700+ hp w/gt4088r
i have been looking at getting a garrett gt4088r for my build and garrett has it listed as 400-700 hp for a 2-6 liter engine. so my question is, will it make 700+ hp on a 2 liter reving around 8k or will it need the 6 liter to put out 700hp if not what would be a good turbo for a built gsr to get to 700+ range

its not going to happen reving to 8 grand!
expect around 650 give or take with one of those turbo's.........
me and tony both went 9.7x in the low 150's with that turbo.

i wish i had my dyno chart still of my 40r. i'll have to see if i can find it.
the thing made peak power from like 5500 to 10000 rpm. was the sickest dyno chart ever!

if this is the turbo that geoff from full race used on his famous "black civic" how come he made over 700hp with it ??? i dont know his boost level or rev limit tho

I believe he had a 9800-10000rpm rev limit and 40psi of boost

This was done on a dynapack, hell I could make 1000whp if I wanted on a dynapack.
Its as simple as this: The turbo flows 70lbs/min, which in relative terms means that this turbo will support around 700whp on a motor efficient enough to produce it.
As efficient as Joe's motor is, if this turbo could make more than 700whp, it would have done it on his car. He had the best ingredients: Amazing Tuner, amazing motor, and we have a dyno that simply does not lie
This was done on a dynapack, hell I could make 1000whp if I wanted on a dynapack.

i notice a very similar trend once again
i think right in the ballpark of 700 is totally doable. 800....no chance
keep in mind most cars making this kind of power on a dynojet are using either big drag radials or slicks. when we were tuning my car we got to a little over 600 horsepower on my 18inch wheels/street tires. we jacked the car up, put slicks on it, and lost 25whp just in the tires alone.

Yep, I had similar results.My old B16A made 676whp using 205/50/15 tires and then put 25 inch slicks on made 656whp

i agree most dyno numbers are for bragging rights usually seeing as how drag races are only acceleration test.

The 40r with stock lines and the 255 was my buddies car,i was there when it was getting tuned it made 735hp at around 7000rpm and had to shut it down because of lack of fuel,go figure lol.Im not sure how much boost it was at but it did make it,would have been curious to see if it had a good fuel set-up.

I made 714whp on a GT4088R on an 83mm LS/VTEC, this was done on a Dynapak. I planned to dyno on a Dynojet as soon as I got back into town BUT we had blown the headgasket on that set up and had many more engine problems(bad Fluidampr among other things) Unfortunately I was never able to dyno that set up on a Dynojet, when I dyno my car here soon, I may go over to a local Dynapak for ***** and giggles to see the difference

I saw almost a 60whp difference on my car from a dynopack and a dynojet. It was a couple months apart, so that could have played a role in things. Either way, the boost didn't change, and the tune didn't change.

I dynoed on a Sunday and had PLANNED to dyno Monday on the dynojet BUT after pulling the head and finding there was than just a blow HG it didn't happen.

There is no average difference because there are too many settings on the dynopack that can affect hp numbers. For the most part, Dynojets are pretty consistent from dyno to dyno. Dynopack numbers will vary both by the settings used and by the fact that there is no rolling resistance that any other dyno has. The amount of rolling resistance there is when a 800hp car is on a dynojet is HUGE. We have to run a lot of straps, very sticky tires, very low tire pressure, etc. All that stuff sucks up hp, and that doesn't happen on a dynopack. So, all settings being right on a Dynopack, on a 700hp car it will read at least 30-50hp off from not having the rolling resistance. So give or take, 650whp on a dynojet = 700ish hp on a Dynopack. Again, assuming the parameters are setup correctly on the Dynopack. If you're off by just a little on the gear ratio it can have serious affects on HP and RPM data.
