the search feature doesnt suck, you need to kinda be specific in what you are looking for.

i found alot for your question.

whats your budget? where do you want to make your power? want a flat tq curve? whats the use of the car?

we need to know this stuff.

First of all you might want to post up your setup to help some of us out. Secondly the search function on here doesnt suck you have to be more specific on your topic when searching. A few turbo's right off the bat that I know in fact can push 600hp are down below.

1.gt3582r bb
2.gt3540r journal bearing
3.pte 35e journal bearing
4.sc61
5.sc63
6.t3/t67 journal bearing
7.t3/t67h0 journal bearing
8.t4/t61 journal bearing
9.t4/t63 journal bearing

we know nothing about his setup, and we are making suggestions. this is funny.

the s366 368 and 372 are probably too much for his goal. moreso the s372.
i dont see why someone would but a 900hp turbo on a car to only make 600, keeping the turbo out of its "happy zone"

the s366 would be a better chioce over the s372.

the 40r is decent but it has been branded as an unresponsive turbo. although people have made it work.

Knowing nothing about your setup other than the power goal, i would suggest the S362 or S366. Those are both good turbos that fall into your power range and should be relatively streetable. If you want room to grow, you may want to skip over the S362 in lieu of the S366 or S366XL. I agree though that the S372 is too large for his goals...i would much rather get a turbo that is in it's upper limit of efficiency instead of something that's too big and laggier

I am going to have to say that the s362 does sound like a very good idea. I am looking for a turbo as well and i am wanting 600 whp as well.. If i don't buy the s362, i really do like the sc61 or the sc63 turbo's!!

holset hx40 all the way
Holset's don't spool slow. They spool faster than their garrett or mitsubishi counterparts. Diesel exhaust is cold and slow moving.
The holset turbine wheel is a work of art. It has been shown to flow very well in a very small turbine housing. For example the hx40 turbine wheel in the small .55 ar bep bolton housing flows as much as a garrett gt35r turbine wheel in a larger .63 ar garrett t3 turbine housing. The hx40 with this configuration spools about 500rpms faster! You can upgrade to the .70 a/r BEP t3 turbine housing and have the same or slightly faster spool speed as the above gt35r with ALOT more flow per psi and consequently more horsepower per psi. This makes for VERY good pumpgas numbers.
Holset patented map width enhancement. They do not have extended tip technology, but there compressors show more efficiency than their garrett or mitsubishi counterpart.
They have superback technology witch leads to VERY, VERY durable compressors. The are designed to be overworked and underpaid.
There are discrepancies all over the web concerning the compressor maps. Take what you hear/read with a grain of salt and a shot of tequila, and the worm.

The 7 and 6 blade hx40 is called the super40 and has the 60mm compressor inducer. This compressor flows around 69lb/min. You can get this wheel in billet style (think HTA). The non-billet wheel spools as fast as the 8blade hx40 in the bolton bep housing and has done 653whp at 40psi per the holset results only thread. Billet should spool even faster. The t3 .70 a/r BEP housing slows spool about 400rpms. But reports show a significant gain in flow per psi. So expect more power at lower boost with that turbine housing.

and this was on a choked up dsm so expect 600 hp with less psi

yeah i did a ton of reaserch on holsets and i was considering a hx40 but i cant really find them unless there brand new for 1200 and all the ones on ebay look pretty shady to me or they have to be rebuilt and i was worried about the the oil fittings i heard of some issues with it well i guess the only issue is not finding the right size.. if u know of a good site to find one let me know..

im not a fan of holset as they dont do well with heat from my experience. precision is made by the chinese now. so i would say garrett or bullseye all the way.

I've said it already, but the Bullseye route is where i would look. I have an S256 and could not be happier with the power, spool, or wicked sound...its an amazing turbo all around

Thats a valid concern in this process. No, the Borg Warner is not the only option for your build. There are twenty or more that would meet or exceed your goal. The issue is, where do your affiliations lie, what exactly do you want from the turbo, are you willing to spend more for the top-of-the-line products, etc...

You could make 600whp with some random hunk of crap tractor turbo for $50 but at what cost to spool and drivability. The S362/S366 would be my choice; however, the GT3567 or GT3582 are in that same league. My issues with the Garrett GT-R series is that 1.) They require additional water lines which is an added expense above and beyond what the initial unit costs and 2.) If you somehow ruin the bearing pack (which can happen) the whole CHRA is toast.

I never thought the latter would be much of a concern to me, but when switching an oil adapter on my car, some junk got in my oil and took out the bearing in my S256. It had to be rebuilt...now, if this was a Garrett GT-R unit, i would be looking at a pretty hefty bill; whereas, my rebuild was ~$400 (after replacing one of the wheels that contacted the housing). That's an expensive rebuild for a BW...if it was simply that the CHRA was bad rather than the wheels, shaft and CHRA, you can expect a lower bill. Its something to think about because failures can and do happen...

I would urge you to consider adding at least an inline fuel pump, if not switch to a parallel pump setup for 600 whp on E85. I maxed out my 255hp at only 50 lbs/min and .81-.85 lambda.

The company I work for is a wholeseller for Garrett and pte. Garrett told us that they in a law suit with pte. Because they are gettng the chinese to copy their parts claim them as Garrett parts. Just look at the failure rate of pte turbos in the past year and the materials that the newer compressor housings are made of look like eBay turbos

sorry for thread jacking
