Default 60-1 turbo, stock B18B (LS) and good tuning, dyno inside

A lot of people have been asking me about using a 60-1 turbo on stock motors. I wasn't originally planning on boosting my LS motor since it was a backup motor until i finished building my B16, but i can't stand being NA. The turbo i'm using is an Innovative Turbo Systems t3/60-1, .63 a/r turbine, .70 a/r compressor, stage 5 wheel. Turbo makes really good power even on an absolutely stock LS motor as you can see. After looking at my datalogs, i get 1psi boost at 3300rpm and 12psi by 5k which isn't bad at all considering the size of the turbo. Torque is incredible and it pulls like a freight train after 4000rpm. This pull was on .8 bar (~12psi) and pump gas. Max power was 278whp, but we played with timing a little and were able to pick up .5 ft-lb of torque w/ 1 degree less total timing on the top end so i was content with that. With some C116 and a better intake manifold, i plan on pushing 300+whp. I'm using a Speed Pro engine management for tuning. Thanks go out to Alex (GSRev) for coming out to the dyno and lending me a hand, and Lawrence of Conley Racing for the best tuning i've seen.

ITS 60-1 @ .8bar (~12psi)
Bone stock B18B (LS)
550cc injectors
Speed Pro ECU
Pump gas

how much timing retard were u running per psi?

#'s look very similar to mine. but u made more power on a little less boost. i was running like 12.7psi or around .87bar. you had a 500rpm's more lag though. we will have to keep in touch I have been interested in the 60-1 lately and im looking forward to eyeing your project.

good job

Default confused

Can some one explain to me why boostaholic made 277whp and 241 lb-ft torque on 12 lbs on a ls, but Arturbo made 277whp and 200 lb-ft torque on only 7 lbs?

It's all about RPM's where the torque is made and how long the torque level can be maintained in the RPM band.

HP= (TQ * RPM)/ (5252)

I think Arturbo is running a GSR motor so the VTEC head helps in the higher RPM's. Notice how the torque curve falls off on the LS, because the head can't breathe well at higher RPM's in stock form.

I'm running about .7 degrees retard per psi up to 12psi and 7500rpm. I'll datalog some runs to see where my max duty cycle is. I'm want to say it'll be around 70%. I've been pondering the thought of doing some porting on another LS head, throwing in some crower valve springs and turbo cams to see if i can't get 310+whp out of this thing on the stock bottom end on pump gas at or around the same boost level with a higher redline. If i can keep the torque up there after 6k i should be able to hit that.

Sorry Dan, didn't see your post at first. Yeah i'll take some pics the next time i wash my car. It's filthy from the trip to houston and the only ones i have right now are from a night meet so the quality kinda sucks. Speaking of which, i thought you were going to stop by the dyno last saturday?

awesome numbers, i just ordered my t3/60-1 with a .82 turbine for my fully built h23. This is going to be fun.

Very nice!! Thats the difference between a small turbo and a big turbo.. however when you run lots of boost the torque is insane..
