Default 60-1 turbo

My new turbo I got 2 weeks ago ended up being a peice of junk. I About to buy a new turbo for my b18c1. I'm looking for 350whp will the 60-1 with a stage 2 wheel be to big and have to much lag for a street/strip car? Would it be better to go with a t4/3 with a 63/57? I plan to use this turbo on my 2.0 in a few months when its finished also.

60-1 is a good choice if you intend to crank the boost way up (like 20+ psi). It's not in its best efficiency range for low boost operation (see the 04E-54, 57 or 60 for that) but it will hold a ton of boost if you want it to.

Oh man thanks for posting up that chart dbman96 it makes me all giddy inside, I just can't wait to get my max rev downpipe and go out and burn the tires, now that I think about it more I'm pritty happy I made the decision to go with the 60-1 turbo...

Ahhh I can't wait!!

Will the 60-1 pretty much suck on the street at 10-12 psi? Does anyone have this turbo and what do u think of it on the street and strip? When does it spool up?

actually, accourding to the compressor map you just showed, the most efficient area for the 60-1 it between 1.5 and 2.0 pressure ratio or 8psi-15psi. Beyond that the air will begin to heat up more.

Only problem I can see is that at lower revs like 4000 (10-12 lbs/min) that turbo won't boost more than 6-7 psi without going into surge. That compressor is really intended for a much larger motor or very high revs.

if you want a turbo that is effiecient between 1.5-3.1PR(7.35-30.87psi) look at this compressor map. Its a T61. SWEET!

You will need nos to spool that beast on the street Don't let that sweet map fool you. If u operate it too long in the surge area, you're history

Exactly! It seems to be more of an all-out drag setup. I mean, who drives around the streets at those boost levels (with a big turbo, that is)?

Personally, I'm a fan of the T3/T04E "50" trim wheel (although I don't have that one - mine's "54") for those goals with a .63 stage 3 turbine. It doesn't seem to be a popular choice for some reason, but it works out well on paper.

i do and i love it.there is no problem whatsoever with lag.i have a .63a/r with a stage 3 turbine.60-1 with a to4e housing.this turbo rips.i hit full boost at about 4500rpm and it pulls all the way to redline(9000rpm).i think if lag were a problem,i would not have been able to beat that viper gts a couple of months ago.

So it's a T3 turbine mated to a 60-1 compressor? Mine's a T4 turbine so perhaps it doesn't spool as fast as yours. But how do you mate a 60-1 with a T4e housing?? I think the T4 and the 60-1 are completely different.

Earl, many use the t04e with the 60-1.

the 60-1 is generally put in the t4 category of turbo's... its one of the biggest in that group though... all 60-1's have the same compressor wheels (and i think comp housings as i have only seen .70's so far... im not sure though) the exhaust side is what u can change. u can put anywhere from a stage 1 wheel to a stage 5 wheel and a variety of housings... anywhere from small t3 housings to large t4 housings... u just have to make them fit the wheel

Maybe I'm not the "duke of turbo"? So someone skool me. I've raced T4's and 60-1. The 60-1 is much bigger than the T4 (B or E, the only dif. is 6 or 7 blades). The 60-1 comes hooked to a T4 EXHAUST housing. A T4 INTAKE housing can be attached to a T3 OR a T4 EXHAUST housing. By definition, if you say t04e, you are talking about an INTAKE housing and a 60-1 IS an INTAKE housing. So how do you run 2 seperate intake housings at the same time?
Not trying to start an argument, just want to figure out what is being stated.

Buddy, 60-1 is referring to the 60-1 compressor wheel. What compressor housing and what turbine and turbine wheel you match to it is up to you.

No, a 60-1 is a series onto itself. It comes with a T4 turbine (exhaust) side. Check this link. http://www.turboneticsinc.com/index01.html
Click on catalog and then 60 series.

Mine is a Garrett t3 hybrid with a 60-1 compressor wheel. The compressor housing is a .70 a/r and the turbine side is a .82a/r with a stage3 wheel
