450cc DSM Injectors - Good enough for 300whp
Doing a search on this is useless... Way too many results, hard to find any useful information.
My goal with my D16y8 is 300whp. I have an adjustable fpr and a set of DSM 450cc injectors. Will they be adequate with my build? All the injector calculators I've used have told me I'll need way more than 450cc/min. They're telling me more like 750cc/min!
How much power can I safely see out of the 450's? Should I ditch them and get higher flowing ones?

There have been a few 300whp cars on turbod16 that use the DSM450's. I'm not sure what their FPR's were set at but in almost all cases they were up at 80% duty cycle or higher.

Well, unfortunately, I can't ask anyone on turbod16 about their experience with them cause that site is down
Anyone here have experience with the DSM 450's in the 300whp range?

Its not down, here you go

450's are limited to about 300whp

Thanks for the input. I guess I'll give them a try, and if they're maxing out, I'll look into some 650's or something.
I'm still curious to hear if anyone has had 450's max out in the 300whp range. Surely, a few higher hp setups have had issues with them if the online injector calculators are recommending around 750cc+.

Just a little experience from another vehicle. MR2's come with 440's and max out at 275whp.
So I would say 300whp would be a safe assumption of the max for 450's.
Now for arguments sake thier have been folks that have pulled 300whp out of the MR2 440's but it's rare so. Just because someone has done it before doesnt make it safe. I would say 300whp would be a good place to stop on the DSM 450's. Just my opinion.
Hope that gives a little help. Good luck

That definitely gives a bit of assurance. I guess as long as the efficiency of my motor is comparable to the MR2's you've seen, I should be ok with the 450's. I do, after all, have the flexibility of an adjustable fpr...

it has to do a lot with tuning also i have seem close to 400hp on dsm injectors, i think that there are some other factors that play a roll when it comes down to it

Really I think its up to the engine setup more than anything, ie.. higer compression, intake mani, nice flowing exhaust, some good coatings here and there, etc. The tune is also a major factor.

Re: (Sr420Det)
It comes down to the fuel pump, efficiency of the motor, and efficiency of the turbo kit. A cheap fmic/small turbo will not be as efficient with the gasoline, and the stock fuel pump will lose flow capacity at higher pressures.
Some people have made 300whp, I recall a stock LS that did so, but was over 100% with the ems's poor calculations, and had a big turbo and 255HP pump at mid-50's psi base fuel pressure.
Your best bet is to get something like modded WRX topfeed injectors. They will flow 650-780cc when the caps are removed, and go for $100-150 on ebay.

Do you know the duty cycle of your injectors in the higher output range? Are they being run above 80%? 90%?

Re: (CALC!_JUST_du_IT!)
I run 480cc injectors and I made 313whp, but I run 60psi fuel pressure and 1psi of fuel per 1 psi of boost. I will check the duty cycle the next time I go on the highway...
450cc's should be enough for 300whp with a 4bar fpr

They aren't being run at over 80% duty cycle.
I would have upgraded them if they were.

That sounds like you're pushing it a little... Adjustable fpr's are so cheap! I think it'd be a good investment for you...
Ok, for the most part, it sounds like I'll be totally fine. No horror stories yet, most of you have been successful with the DSM's. If I run into any issues with them, I'll be sure to post them here. Let's keep this thread alive, in case anyone wants to share less fortunate experiences with the DSM's. These are, by far, the most popular injectors in boosted Hondas. It's good to have this info accessible.
Thanks for all the responses so far!

Yeah, I swapped in some RC 750s a short while after.

Have a look on Evans Tuning Dyno Library loads of D's using dsm's for good power.
