Mase is not the worlds best tuner, but since you want to add in fictionary **** we will have you advertise that he is

Keyboard commando would have been a great title too, good thinking james

Now, if this thread does not get back on topic it will be locked. And it would be a pity to lock a thread like this since it has useful info to uberdata users.

That 400whp Uberdata tune, that car made mulitiple multiple passes over and over again @ Battle and held up fine. I just really cant stand people like you that have to prove something by always bashing someone else's stuff that you know everything.</TD></TR></TABLE>

willis did a great job, except its a tad lean and no room for error. Did I say he ******* sucks? Nope. Sure didnt.

im glad uberdata is working out, and i hope the chrome will be an even bigger success.

I dont bash everyones ****, if u look most of my posts are quite informative. all i said was it was lean. how does that make him a bad tuner? **** u saw my last dyno, one run went ******* lean. big deal, i fixed it.

So if i failed to stress it before, Great job on the tuning willis, its a nice flat AFR curve, but if you would richen it up into safer conditions, you will find that the motor wont loose much power at all, and the cylinder temps would be more in favor.

but furthermore, ProjectSi2, ill see you next weekend.

i tuned an ls vtec turbo @ about 14 psi to 341 with a 12.5 a/f. after a bit of consideration, i decided to turn the a/f to 12.0 because the age of the motor. the motor lost a little under 10 hp, but i think the trade off is worth it. on my own motor i make 427 @ 1 bar on 12.0 a/f.

Honestly Mase, I have heard good things from you b4 from my friends in Gainesville like Doug and stuff.

And to honestly say again, what i said about John's CRX is what he told me the night he came back from Tampa.

None of the things are pin pointed towards u and from your last post was more respectable than the original post you made towards Willis.

Im just backing Willis up cause he has done good things that i have seen and has proven.

Never wanted to be a total disrespect post but I was just getting a lil uneasy when someone knocks someone else's work....

and also PrecisionH23A, I dont know where you come in cursing and act like Captain Stabbin...this was a healthy conversation until u decided to step in

Wow, this is interesting....

Ok, there is basically a lot of miscommunication going on here... LoL...

First of all, Eric, we haven't really talked about my car much except for right after it was dyno'd and the 'incident'... we only discussed my opinion of what happened at the dyno, and not what i found out a couple of months later after talking to countless engine builders and tuners, and showing pictures of what happened to everyone.

Was i pissed at Mase right after the dyno session? Absolutely... but it was ONLY because i didn't want to be pissed at myself, and other than myself, and Mase, there was no one to be pissed at, so i chose him... However, for the most part i kept my mouth shut... i didn't even really approach Mase with my displeasure, because i didn't want to start **** over something that could potentially not even be true.

Here are the facts...

The car was 'rushed' to the dyno... this includes the wiring for the Nitrous system. The car did not have a functioning Speed Sensor in the car, so the Nitrous had to be activated in a manner that it is not meant to be activated at. For some reason (likely wiring, but could have been 'how' we were activating it), the Nitrous was intermittent... sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't.

We put the car on the dyno for its baseline, and it pulled a lovely 300hp @ 10psi on a stock bore/stroke B16A... and thats with the huge turbo that was nowhere near its efficiency range. Anyway, we then decided to do a pull with the nitrous, to see what it would do then. It was at that point that we discovered the problems, and instead of dyno tuning the car without nitrous, we chose to chase the problem down in the car, and try to get the Nitrous functioning.

~~&gt; Somehow, after making a pull, i was sitting in the driver seat, not touching a thing. The car was idleing after making a pull, cooling down. All of a sudden, the RPM's SHOT to the sky (Nitrous activated somehow), and the car popped a few times as it bounced off the rev limiter, and it sounded like it backfired at least once when it did that. Now, no one knows WHY it did this... however, i think that created a weak point in the head, but the car didn't show any weakness on the dyno... once we checked it over, we kept chasing wiring, and it kept messing up while doing pulls (we did about 4 pulls to only about 5000rpm after the Nitrous issue).

We pulled the car off the dyno since we ran out of time, and at this point, everything was kosher with it seemingly. The car was not smoking, and not idling 'funny'.... it was puerfect, but the nitrous just wasn't working.

Anyway, the decision was made to drive the car back rather than to tow it, so that we could do a bit more street tuning on the car before getting it back to the shop. We drove out of the dyno, and onto the highway. After doing a few small pulls, and watching the a/f, we decided to try a pull with the NOS, and see how it would do. At this point, the car was at 14psi i think. Anyway, the Nitrous hit, and hit HARD... the car pulled harder than it has ever pulled, and ran AWESOME........ after the pull, the car was running a bit weird, but didn't feel 'too' bad... but still, i pulled it over, and we looked at it. I decided i wanted to just tow it back, and we went to put the car on the tow dolly...

UHaul Tow dollies don't fit lowered cars with the battery placed in the fender under the headlight.....

Ok, so one slight mistake there... LoL.. The dolly had worked for our cars in the past, but this car has a unique battery tray, and we didn't realize that it would interfere with the dolly wheel-chocks.... but it did. So, i was forced to drive it.

At this point it was dead dark outside, and the wiring had not been finished up to the dash all the way, and there was no dash lights (headlights and tails worked, and that was it)... so, i couldn't see the gauge, and Mase had basically passed out in the passenger seat, and didn't have his lap top on, so no warning buzzers or anything could have come from that.

Anyway, i didn't realize that anything was wrong, until about 30 minutes later, the car started accelerating by itself (not good). What happened, is that we (RPI) manufacture a heatshield intake manifold gasket, and it was installed on the car. Well, this thing saved my intake manifold from seeing too much heat like the rest of the motor, but it began melting, which opened up a gap between the intake manifold and the head, and this was allowing air to get in, and make the car accelerate.

At this point it was too late, but the section of road we were on was under construction, and there was concrete barriers on both sides, and it was rush hour.... no chance to stop on the road at all, so i was forced to drive the car to the nearest exit... it ran like this for almost another 5 minutes while i 'patiently' waited for another exit to come up, or some place to pull off the road. Once the motor shut off, that was it for her... she was toast.

Now, the best guess that i have, is that when the Nitrous activated on the Dyno, it may have damaged the head (the block nor pistons were hurt other than heat damage, and a bit of damage caused by the hot gasses of the combustion cycle... no cracked sleeves, nothing)... Then, when we did the pull ojn the highway with the nitrous, we figure that it opened up a slight crack, which is what caused it to run 'kinda' weird, but nothing that threw up any 'red flags' with any of us. Over the course of the next 30-40 minutes worth of driving though, it was juuuust enough to cause the car to overheat, and ultimately die.

Who was at fault? The 'Idiot' Owner or Tuner? Who knows... it could have been the 'quickie' wiring that was done, it could have been pretty much anything... At first i was blaming Mase for what happened in my mind, but i never 'KNEW', so i kept my mouth shut here... but now, as far as i'm concerned, i don't think it was Mase's fault, i don't think it was my fault, i don't think it was anyone's fault... something happened, and i don't know what, so i'm not going to point fingers anywhere.

Mase helped out tirelessly to get the car running in the first place, and to get it street tuned to the point where we could take it to the dyno. The car runs great... it idles at 900rpm with 1000cc injectors, and fires up every time. The car is now being rebuilt, and i'm not rushing anything this time... i'm treating it like it's a customer car this time, and we're going to do it right. Everything will work before we even think about hitting a dyno, and Lord willing, it'll be a bat outta hell...

Mase did a fabulous job on the tuning of the car... the maps were flawless for streetable driving.. it only had a slight throttle tip-in bog, but we were going to fix that when we got back to the shop that night... but otherwise it ran great. Even after all this happened, i bolted up a bone-stock B16A in the car to get it to a local car meet, and the car started up on the first turn of the key (once fuel pressure built up), and drive flawlessly that day.

Mase is still first in line to tune the car with its new motor... it'll be back, better than ever, and ready to rock and roll!

No, bubba, all I've heard you do is **** vinegar at Mase, to the detriment of Willis' thread. Not that I'm not a fan of the old thread hifack, but you did it in poor taste with zero facts.

Fiiiyaah!

edit: Why don't you meet Mase IRL? He'll probably yell at you some, but we've all seen American Pie... Stifler's not a bully. He's just a little hyperactive, and doesn't get laid a lot. You'll get some stuff resolved face to face, and walk with a better understanding of each other.

You didn't say I suck, but look at what you did say..

"Yes, its lean, and Octane has nothing to do with it.

cylinder temps are sky high and unsafe w/ high boost and lean conditions such as 13:1"

I mean come on...you were obviously putting down my tune. and octane does have something to do with it, most tuners I know run C16 a little leaner than pump..if you do it differently thats fine, doesn't mean that I am wrong though. running 12.5:1 on C16 is not on the edge imo with a properly tuned engine, sure it may be safer to run richer...but thats up to me, I was the one there making the pulls and watching this particular engines reaction to changes so I am in a much better position to make the tuning decisions than people who are just looking at the graph.

No hard feelings man, and I appreciate your last couple of posts here.

I look forward to meeting all you guys at moroso. Wear a shirt with Stiffler or #1 stunna on it or something so i recognize you.

btw, projectsi is a good guy he was just giving his side of the story..

Damn, James you found me out. I was secretly photoshopping the air fuel line on every one of the of the 100+ pulls we made with your car between each pull. Thats why the air fuel line was so flat. Can't believe you never noticed. HAHA

pretty please explain to me why its ok to run 12.7-12.8:1 w/ c16.

and i hope you dont say because professional tuners said so.

Damn, you guys just need to get off each other nuts. Let the man be, the car did well and he chose to run that AF ratio on the car and it's obviously still running so let him deal with it. Everyone tunes diffrerently and this seemed to work for him. How can you guys let this thread become this, look at yourselves. You guys are suppose to be professionals, show eachother some respect or lock this **** up. Each of you guys know your ability and you guys are wastin your time typin ****.

It is pretty obvious that the motor hurt itself when the nos went off uncontrollably on the dyno. You just can't blame that on a tuning problem or a tuner. Once that happened, the damage was started and would have wound up hurting something no matter what was done afterwards. There was no turning back at that point. Sometimes it just takes a little more time for the destruction to be complete. These things happen...
