400-450whp daily driven long lasting clutch?
My setup is going to have 400-450whp and I would like to put alot of miles on the car. Its a 93CX built GSR SC61. I dont want to change a clutch every 10k miles like the action and exedy puck clutches Ive previously owned on other setups.
Is there a strong, not crazy priced clutch that can handle my power that will actually last? Whats the strongest single disc non pucked clutch? I dont care about pedal effort, I'm used to built mustangs. I guess I could go with a pucked clutch, as long as it doesnt chatter and will last.
LMK thanks and TIA!

i know they have like 10 different stages you can choose from
and most are non pucked

Almost all of our 400+ street cars use ACT XX-R6 with no chatter and no issues. Seem to hold up very well on the street and the track.

Re: (pbsracerx)
Do you have a GSR or LS? I'm asking because of the torque issue. Personally my Action 2MS (6 puck sprung) has lasted 30k miles now! I've only been at 334wtrq for about 1.5k miles, but I am still impessed (previously at 269trq). I never hear chatter, but it is hard when slowly daily driving.

Re: (quicksilver1689)
we use the ACT extremes with the unsprung 6 puck, like Joshua(pbsracerx) said above theres no issues with chatter that i have seen with this clutch.i persoanlly think its very easy to drive on the street also. our nissan ran a 10.34 with this clutch, and another of our integras ran an 11.07 on slicks. i also been runing this set up for the last 5 years and my info is in my sig.

i know a local guy that has a "ACT Clutch kit6 for b series" for $100. not sure if the kit6 is the R6 but he says it will last for me. sound like a deal?
adseguy - its a 10:1 1.9L gsr block with a portflow head... im unsure what the tq will be. it could be really high.

That's what I used for a bit over 400 WHP on my daily driven Civic, and I agree with DontBlink completely about it

If it's a new XTR6 kit, then buy it, and send me his contact info because I'd like to buy ten of them at that price.

XT = Xtreme pressure plate
R6 = 6-puck unsprung hub
They also make an HDR6, which I don't think would be good for your application, andan XXR6, which is even heavier than the XTR6.
edit - If he's just selling the R6 disk for $100, then you can buy a new R6 disk for that price.

Re: 400-450whp daily driven long lasting clutch? (rmcdaniels)
Hey guys. I hope someone will see this message although it looks as though the original post has been answered. But with regard to a long lasting clutch for strictly normal driving would I be ok going with an ACT? My current clutch is begining to slip from wear and tear and the occasional "petal to the metal" of a stock '96 civic. I really want this to be my last clutch purchase. Is ACT going to meet my needs as far as being a tough long lasting clutch or should I count on something other? Thanks. In addition is my stock bearing the same as a "throw-out bearing" which would be replaced by the pilot bearing found in ACT clutch kits? Thanks!

I use the ACT 6 puck and the HD plate on my DD. - works great, very little chatter, holds up at the track with the slicks on.
and yes, they will provide a new throw out. replace the stockie.

Re: (Monstah)
i used the hd r6 for my 240wtq for about 10-12k miles. before that the clutch was at around 200-220 wtq for about 15-20k miles, so overall it saw around 30k miles.
i will upgrade to the xtr6 for my next motor, right about 400-450whp where you want your goals to be

I don't know about the other twin's but as for the Exedy, the engagement is not harsh at all. For a passenger it can feel like a stock car, for the driver I would say its just slightly stiffer than the exedy stage 2. Being daily driving it for close to 20,000 miles now with no issues (knock on wood of course).
