Default 3rd gear grinding like hell when in gear and accelerating...???

Well about that time when my tranny decides to crap on me...all gears shift into gear just fine...just 3rd gear it grinds when ur moving in it..or decelerating...

my question is trying to figure out what might be wrong..i will be pulling the tranny out this week...but looking to see what i might expect...

any insight would be helpful thanks!

expect to buy a 3rd gear sleeve set which comes with the 3rd gear on the main shaft. then it will need a 3rd gear for the counter shaft. probably some new bearings from the metal and whatever else if worn. wont be cheap

3rd gear sleeve and 3rd gear are probably shot to hell.

sounds like 3rd gear synchro slider pooped out, and yeah, the bearign behind the C/S 3rd gear too... might not have gotten bad enough to do damage, but you would probably want to replace 3rd... yeah new tranny would be cheaper 4 u.

I got my last one with 80K miles for $100.
