Hi, ive seen on HMT before where a 3 bar map sensor was installed inside of the stock tb mounted map sensor. Anyone have any insight about this or have any advice about doing it? The map sensor i will be using is a Xenocron 3 bar and installing it into a OBD1 B18B stock map sensor. Pic below. Thanks

 

No one on HT this creative lol

 

open stock map rivets.
gut it.
place your freescale map in.
solder wires to body.
fill in some epoxy.
close "stock" map.
done

 

yea I've heard of that am I'm going to do some digging bc I think there is a site that tells u how to do it...

 

Just because its on HMT and not HT, doesn't mean it won't work. And for the record, most people on HT make $200/hr, so its more ecconomical to spend $130 for a prefabbed 4bar than to make an oem-style 2.5/3/4 bar from a stock housing, a $15 sensor, and a half-hour of their time. You pay quite a bit extra just to get a pcb, pigtail, and wires soldered on...

Ima try it and hopefully not ruin both my 3 bar and my stock sensor lol. Thanks ill check out the engine management section on HMT. The sensor i got actually fits inside the vacuum source of the stock sensor just need to seal it with something. Its been awhile since id seen it done so was sceptical about doing it but ill give it a try.

I dont make a lot of money but i can spare a half hour lol

If we made $200/hour, we wouldn't be [freak]ing around with Hondas.

 

I think he was being sarcastic with the fact most people on Honda-tech are low rent 18-25 year olds with not a lot of money so it would make more sense to rip apart a stock map sensor and solder in a 3-4bar sensor for $40 instead of spending $130 on the Omni/Hondata sensor.

Because it costs 125$ compared to the 45$ i spent on my xenocron sensor... im not ht high roller just trying to make a fast car lol.

wow.....$125 - $45 = $80 difference you prolly spend $80 one weekend on useless stuff why not just save yourself the grief.

Obviously dont know me, ima cheap ***. It doesnt even look that hard lol, everyone on honda-tech is willing to dish out money for someone else to do the work for them when you could spend some time and do it yourself

It comes with a 2 year warranty & bolts on in less then 2 minutes.
No wiring needed!

Modifying the stock sensor can be done, however we have seen 99% of the people that try this fail to do so. It is not as easy as it sounds.

The difference is DIY versus oem quality plug & play. You make the choice :-)

I caved, found an 80$ in my left sleeve

Ima still try it though lol. Ill put it on my 4 door when i boost it, i want my coupe to look clean though.

 

Only problem now is that your new "sleeper" map now says OMNI across the fcuken top. Should have stayed HMT.

Jesus Christ. Some of the last words I would use to describe the average Honda-Tech user is sensible.

If you can grab an OEM map sensor for nothing or next to nothing, $50 and 1-2 hours gets you basically the same thing as $120-130 Omni/Hondata sensor. If you can't solder/wire/use epoxy/basic hand tools you wouldn't be able to save that $70. If you can, $70 isn't anything to sneeze at.

Yeah i know, oh well. Not trying to hide anything just want something that looks clean and not a gob of jb weld lol. I have appreciation for the HMT guys... if my other map sensor turns out good maybe ill use it instead. Either way both tegs will be turbo and require one so im not at a loss.

Oh and i dont beleive spending unnecessary money is sensible

 

70 bucks could do alot of fun things
