Default 3 to 4 inch down pipe, connected with a 3 inch exhaust

would it be better just to upgrade to a full 4 inch to mate with the down pipe? or would i lose any power from 3 to 4 back to 3? thing is i already have a full 3 inch exhaust already done mandrel bent, should i sell and redo? anyone have any dyno graphs should this set up? thanks

Surely you've learned by now that questions like this without any details can't be answered.

Comes down to power more than anything. At 500hp it's definitely not affecting power. At 800hp it's probably a little different story.

The best turbo exhaust is no exhaust (zero backpressure). Less backpressure will get you a bit more power as well as help spool the turbo a bit faster. But as Tony mentioned, there's always a point of diminishing returns. Usually when it comes to 3" and above, you get what you can fit or afford, and leave it at that unless it does become a restriction or you need every last whp. If you have a 3-4-3 setup, I'd bet you could put the money to a better place (IM? cam or two? Springs/retainers?), especially given the price of bends and pipe atm.

ive never heard of a 4 to 3" flex pipe....but i know there are 4" to 3" reducers...burns makes some....u can always put a flexpipe on ur down pipe and then use the reducer from ur flexpipe to ur exhaust

yea your right i guess i can do that, just get another 4 to 3" exhaust reducer just like the down pipe and weld that to the exhaust then put the flex on there, then flane it then hook up the exhaust, lol

get something like this
