Default 3.00" Tanabe Racing Medallion or 2.5" ES oval muffler

i currently have a Tanabe Racing Medallion with 3.00" exhaust piping from the end of the downpipe to the muffler for my turbocharged setup. problem is, the exhaust system is too loud. so, i was thinking about using the 2.5" ES oval muffler with 2.5" piping of course, to make my car less attractive to cops and most importantly, thieves.

but, i think the 2.5" exhaust piping and muffler might be too restrictive for my horsepower needs.

Maybe you should try adding an inline resonator before sizing down your piping.

forgot to mention, 24" resonator inline with 3.00" piping. i'm just not sure if the design of the ES is efficient enough to expel the amount of gases in a high horsepower application. would like some feedback from ES users with a turbocharged car.

thanks for the suggestion though

also, before anyone suggests an electric cutout with the stock exhaust, i have emailed NHRA re: this setup for the Sport FWD class and they said the electric cutout would be fine BUT, i would have to run my car through the stock exhaust system if that is the case. and if the cutout is open during competition, it would result in an automatic DQ.

i WAS thinking about selling the complete racing medallion exhaust and going with an electric cutout and stock exhaust system, but, since i have been informed that it would be illegal during competition at a NHRA event, i have scratched that idea.

if i can find a stealth straight through muffler with a 3.00" inlet and outlet, then it would be up for grabs.

its for a hatch btw.

i'd either add in a 3" es oval style muffler

or a 3" resonator... try that.. why redo somethign if it already working: you can always adjust sound by those options

i don't believe there is a 3" ES or ES "style" mufflers and i do have a 3", 24" in length resonator. i'm not sure if the ES mufflers are high quality mufflers but, i would think that any ES style mufflers would be a large decrease in quality.

closest thing i see is the magnaflow oval exhaust. is that, or if you carry any others, a straight through design?

Magnaflow oval is the same thing as ES oval. I highly recommend it! I'm n/a right now, but won't be for long and I plan on keeping it.

You could also consider the dynomax ultra flo welded muffler. They also make a turbo one. not sure about sound though..

60 mm=2.4" i had custom 3.00" piping made for the racing medallion.
