3" muffler
I have been in the market for a 3" muffler for a while now and would like opinions on the build, quality and looks on each of these mufflers.
Goal: free flowing true 3", quiet and least attractive muffler (to the cops).
1. Edelbrock 3" inlet/outlet. The description says, "This design splits exhaust gasses into two seperate paths." would that restrict or aid the airflow?
OR
the same muffler in stainless:
LASTLY:
Tanabe 3.00" universal muffler
I know that the Tanabe might be loud but, this is the last option if the quality of the Edelbrock universal mufflers are questionable.

Yup, these other ones are overpriced for sure. I paid $70 plus installation for my 3" Magnaflow.

Re: (ELSpool)
thanks for the link. i've considered the magnaflows as well but, the large tipped mufflers don't appeal to me, as it attracts too much unwanted attention. if those mufflers came with a 3" perforated core w/o the tip, i would buy it.
this might be my last choice. unless other members have any other suggestions:
Borla XR1

Re: (Turbo_Siii)
from my understanding, that picture is supposed to be the 2.5" Borla muffler.
btw, did you purchase the muffler through summit?
EDIT: never mind. if you ordered the 3" muffler through summit, that is the picture they have displayed for the 3" muffler. but, i believe the actual picture of the muffler, is the one i posted up.

Re: (Turbo_Siii)
if you purchased the 16" sportsman muffler with 3" inlet and outlet (40944), it is cheaper from JEGS. and with the customer service i received today from Summit, I don't know if i'll continue doing business with them.

Re: (Hatch4urSnatch)
here is it. 3inch inlet and outlet Borla XR1 with 3inch mandrel all the way back. Im loving it so far, you can still hear the turbo spool through the exhaust. Only thing is the sound is a bit deep so i'll probally add a resonator to it.

Re: (Turbo_Siii)
looks very good
the end caps are better than i expected. is that mandrel bent stainless piping all the way back? is the exhaust loud enough to attract unwanted attention?

Re: (Hatch4urSnatch)
The exhaust is very deep sounding. Never makes a poping noise though, even at high rpms. It is a bit too deep on the highway. But thats what I get for no resonators. Its aluminized mandrel steel all the way back.

Just got my 3" Borla off of ebay. I'll be installing it next week. I already polished it, looks nice. Here's a pic with my 3" borla and 3" ss kteller mandrel piping for my DA:

Re: (calib17a)
I like the borla muffler you guys are talking about. The build quality is great. I have installed a few of them in 2.5" on VWs. Techtonics uses that muffler in their full stainless exhaust. Sounds great on an NA car. not to loud but i'm sure 3" would be a little louder

Re: 3" muffler (Hatch4urSnatch)
I've seen a couple cars get mufflers off of Sebrings or similar vehicles- theyre large enough for your piping, but since they look stock theyre indistinguishable-
I hope this helps.
Look for a muffler for a honda pilot haha
