2nd gen=no boost!
okay, so this is like my third post about my cars no boosting problem. THERE ARE NO LEAKS IN THE CHARGE PIPING, VACUUM LINES, OR WASTEGATE! so please, nobody tell me to check over those places. my car shows no boost on my safcII, AND my buttmeter tells me its not boosting either, and I am talking, NO BOOST at all, not even 1psi. now my downpipe flange that connects to the exhaust side of turbo is missing a bolt. i used seafoam on my car, and all this smoke started flying out of there, so thats how i know there is a leak. also, my car has 157,000 miles on the chassis, and i am pretty sure that the cat converter has never been replaced. when i gas the car, it makes this weird sound, like the sound hondas make in reverse. do you think the downpipe leak or the cat would make it so my car does not boost?
-check for leaks in the chargr pipes and couplers
-check for exhaust leaks before the downpipe.
-check to see if wastegate is not stuck open
-check to see if all vacuum lines are hooked up propery and that there are no leaks
be more specific about the equipment you are usings too.

READ MY LAST POST.
My cat burned up and caused me to have NO boost. I replaced it and it boosted fine. So YES a bad cat WILL cause you to NOT BOOST.
If it lodges sideways it's a major restriction, enough to cause you not be able to boost.

oh, right on...just making sure, cuzz i dont wanna pay to have a straight pipe put in, only to find out that the cat has nothing to do with it...thanks for the help, straight pipes goin in tomorrow.
hahaha, this is funny already...put the straight pipe in...still, NO BOOST!!!!!!!!!!! oh man, what the hell is wrong with my car. its still making this whiring sound when i get to like 3000 rpm. this is just weird, i cant believe i have stumped all of honda-tech. anybody have any other suggestions? and if anyone says chargepipe or wastegate leak, i am going to fly up to your house and slap you up side the head.
Is the turbo even spinning when u rev? Also tell me where u hooked up ur vaccum lines to. Btw i know its kinda late to ask this, but if u realli think it was the cat, why didn't u just take it off and run open downpipe to see if it boosts or not? I do not think a leaky downpipe will affect your boost, but it would affect ur back pressure..........are u running a mbc? just wondering
Check if the turbo is spinning when you rev it... i had the same problem on my prelude. It was because the person who sold me the turbo sent me one with a missing bolt from the compressor side in to the middle of the turbo. That made the entire turbo sit wierd, which made the fan hit the compressor housing. After high RPMs when it would start to spin it would make an almost howeling sound. See if thats it
edge, what bolt are you talking about? I have tried everything already, so i think it might just be the turbo...yah, this sounds like it could be it, because the turbo does make a howling type of sound. also, the turbo does spin when i rev it, but it doesnt make the howling sound unless i am driving it (i guess from the load)...do you guys think it could just be a faulty turbo?
so what, is the turbo just bad? its actually brand new, but its under warranty so i can get a new one...but i want to know if a bad turbo would make these howling type of sounds before i pay 30 bucks to mail the turbo back...
for me, it only makes a howling sound when one of the couplers fell off or got loose. but........in ur case....if ur sure that its not ur coupler, vacc, wg.....then it has to be your turbo....
yah, i rechecked all my piping...i even connected a coupler to my exhaust piping, and pressurized it with my air compressor, to see if my manifold was leaking.......its not...gonna take it into a shop today, hopefully they'll figure it out.
if no boost then ur turbo aint boosting. sounds like maybe it aint spinning.
i had a bad cat, half melted and some gone, it threw a code with stock ecu, but never stoped me from boosting. turbo isn't boosting! theres no other explaination i think unless the charge piping isn't hooked up to the throttle body.
just my thoughts tho.

thats the thing, i can spin the turbo with my finger...also, i revved my car with a charge piping disconnected, and i could feel a little air blowing from the turbo...could it be that the turbo just isnt spinning enough??? ahhhh, i'm ready to give up on this car people....
well, all my oil lines are hooked up...i know oil is flowing through, cuzz one time i forgot to hook up the feed line, and there was oil all over the ground, so the turbo is getting oil...and nope, no boost controller...i just have a 9psi tial wg...
