i got a 99 SiR with no oxygen sensor since SiR here doesn't come one from the factory so i got a used 4-wire o2 sensor from a friend to monitor a/f on my turbo install but we do not know if the o2 is still working.

Question #1
- is there a way to check if the o2 sensor is still working or not without having to install it in to save some time?

Question #2
- since we don't get an o2 sensor on our car, i will be installing the o2 sensor to the gauge directly without going to the ecu, is this the right way to do it:
* connect blue wire(signal) from the o2 sensor to the purple wire of the autometer
a/f guage
* connect white wire from o2 sensor to ignition
* there are 2 black wires for the heating element and i know it doesn't matter which one connects to +12v, so i like to know do i have to connect one black wire to CONSTANT 12v or just the ignition? then the other black wire to ground (how does the heating element work, does it need to be heated even if the car is park in a garage, if so, i should connect it to constant 12v OR to ignition?)

is that the right way to directly connect it to an a/f gauge?

any help will be appreciated.
