we run 2" in my friends d16 using dsm turbo/intercooler. Works great for his power level.

2" should work great
Or you can run 2" to IC then 2.25 or 2.5 to TB. That is what I would do

On your setup, I wouldnt think much. 2" should be fine for you.

In selecting charge pipes, you want to make sure that the air speed will not exceed the speed of sound, since doing this would cause shock waves and reversion within the pipe, robbing you of power. A 1 7/8" I.D. pipe (which is what JCWhitney sells, not 2") yields an airspeed of 313ft/sec at a flow rate of 357cfm (which is twice that of a stock NA d16z6) through the pipe. So, roughly equivalent to doubling the power (ie. 21x WHP). The speed of sound, at sea level, is just above 300ft/sec, so the velocity in the pipe is a little much. The speed of sound varies with temperature, though, so it is probably a little higher, inside the pipe, meaning you can fudge and go a little smaller.

A 2.25" O.D. (2.125" I.D.) pipe would be safe, in this regard. However, also realize that for any given length of pipe, a 2 1/8" I.D. will have 29% more volume than a 1 7/8" pipe of the same length. With a 2 3/8" pipe, the difference is 61% more volume over a 1 7/8" pipe. This overall volume equals 5.26 liters for 6 feet of 2.25" O.D. piping and only 3.27liters for 1 7/8" I.D. piping. So, more than 3 times the volume of your engine, in the first case and about 2 times, in the second.

Point being, get the smallest/shortest pipe you can that will not force air speed over 29X ft/sec, to be safe. In other words, 2.25" O.D. piping from JCWhitney, will do you good for over 250whp.

This information has been brought to you by my boring job.

No prob, man. I am redoing my chargepipes/intercooler and am trying to decide if I should use 2, 2.25 or 2.5 before the intercooler, since the charge will be hotter and the velocity can be higher! I have 2 and 2.5 sitting around, but 2.25 seems the best bet. I'm just cheap.
