1st time building engine, couple questions
hey guys, i just picked up an complete ls block. i'm ordering a set of manley h beams and wiseco pistons. as far as having the rotating assembly balanced, what do you guys reccomend? is it necessary?
i'd like to get around 450-500 on e85.
i've got a stock b16 head gsr cams, i'll be putting some supertech springs in it as well.
i'm using a forged performance ramhorn with an holset hy35 turbo and a 38mm gate
and my budget isn't very high at all, but if its something that is really really worth doing, then i'll bite the bullet and spend the money

You could keep the stock assembly in that LS block for what that HY35 can do (about 50lbs/min) and 400whp. But, I've always believed if you're getting new rods and pistons to be set with the block, there's nothing but good things that come from a bit of extra insurance by balancing the assembly.
well i'd like to make +/-500 with this motor, and i'd like to have some room to make more power if i wanted to without building another motor if that makes sense
i always have the rotating assembly balanced when rebuilding an engine, its good insurance especially if your gonna beat the **** out of it. I just had my whole rotating assembly on my new b20 build done. Cost about 250 for the balancing.
