1st gen eclipse turbo too small for b16?
I'm tossing around the idea of building a very mild turbo kit for my b16. I'm not after lots of hp, just good amounts of torque for daily driving with minimal lag. I have considered buying a 1st gen eclips turbo and I was wondering if it would make power to 8k or would it fall of before then. How much boost would be recommended for safe daily driving? Just trying to put some info together...thanks.

isnt it a td04, if it is i think it would be perfect for the 1.6, it would spool fast to make up for no torque.... also if your only running low boost 5-8psi it wont lose to much power up top... you should just buy the sohc greddy kit and redrill the manifold or sell it and get a blitz manifold it bolt right up

I was told that a td04 will have a big drop in power at 6000 rpms on the b16. Something about becoming so inefficient it only heats the air. This was at 8 psi

If you learn everything in this link, Then you will be able to figure out if the turbo is big enough. Give it some time and you will be thankful in the end.
