Default 14B on B16

(14B = 1G DSM Turbo for those that didn't know)

Some tell me it will flow enough air.. Some tell me it wont..

I want 6psi.. Will it hold it all the way to Redline?. (8200)

Oh, it'll hold 8 psi to redline allright. Might be a little hotter than you want. Depending on your setup its a good 250whp turbo. If your flowing more than 280 whp worth of air at 8 psi, step up to a 16b, big 16g, 20g, or do the right thing and go garret.

i HIGHLY doubt it...why not buy a t3 off ebay for $100-$200?

you are also going to have to worry about getting a manifold to fit...

Dude, it'll hold 8psi to redline, unless he is flowing more than 300whp worth of air at only 8psi. I mean, I only ran a 14b on a 2L motor for 2 years. I've had it hold 20 psi to 7500 rpm's for 101 mph traps.

well I think i will not hold till redline cause I know for a FACT that on a b16a1 with GSR cams, TUNED via hondata at 10psi on a greddy 15G the power starts to FLATTEN out at 7500rpms but it does not drop off it just flattens out.

so if that happens on a 15G
a DSM 14b would be if not smaller ... certianly not larger flowing than the 15G.

I think it would be and OK streetable turbo.... meaning it would pull very smooth power band like and almost feel stock w/out the HUGE shock to the motor of reaching full boost at 4500rpm with a t3t4.

again I would still boost with a 14b cause boost is better than no boost.

101mph traps w/20psi...something isn't rite there.
I sure hope your trapping a lot higher then 101mph w/20psi. i'm trapping @ 109mph with 9psi.

Anyways I don't know much about the dsm turbo's but I can tell you this If it's the same size or smaller then the saab t3 (.42 compressor .48 exhaust) then It's definatly NOT going to hold boost till redline. I ran that turbo on my b16 and boost would drop from 6psi down to about 2-3psi by redline. It would start to fall about 5k rpm.

Its on a 7.8:1 compression 4g63. You have to understand how many restrictions their are on a stock DSM. But, it held the boost. Hell their is a guy in the northeast that ran some 11 second passes on the 14b. Like I said, its a good 250whp turbo.

My friend has a 14b on his b16 running 8psi and he ran a 13.1@107. It seems to make power all the way to redline. I think he dynoed 230 whp.

Thats a really strong trap. I bet he makes a LOT of torque as well at lowish rpm's. The thing I loved about the 14b is how it could fry the tires from a 2000rpm tromp, probably a 2500rpm tromp on a b16. SO basically the peak hp might not be enough for people to jerk off to, but the acuall power under the curve is where it really shines. I think the 107mph trap speaks for itself.

The 14b must flow more then a t3 (saab .42/.48) because thats what I ran on my b16 for a while, I couldn't get my traps higher then 103mph (13.7)
I swapped out for a t3t4 and my traps went up to 109mph (13.5). Also I say that because I couldn't keep boost if my life depended on it (above 5krpm)

I ran t3 on b18 teg i ran like 7 psi on it and it pulled really good to red line. On the other hand i got 14b on my dsm (stock) and i'm boosting 17 psi, but i'll drop like **** after 6k. The boost will fall to like 13-14 psi at 7k. Once I reved it to 7.5k and it only had like 11 psi.
