13 psi only 278 whp on B18C1??
okay, a few weeks ago i recently got my car to the dyno for the first time.
i dynoed in at 278 whp w/ 217 tq at 13 psi. brief info on the motor:
1994 B18C1 81.5 mm.
JE 9.0:1
Eagle Rods
STR blockguard
Max-Rev manifold and downpipe(2 1/2")
Max-Rev IC w/ Revhard IC piping
Garrett T3/To4e .57 trim, .63 ar
Tial 35 mm HP wastegate
Greddy Type S BOV
3Â’ Thermal exhaust
(no cat, just a adapter to connect my 2 1/2" dp to 3" exhaust)
Skunk2 camgears
Skunk2 manifold
Hondata 2B
RC 550 cc.
Walbro 255 lph
now some people told me to check my compression and i ran
1: 180
2: 180
3: 180
4: 180
i also checked my timing and they are at 0,0
so i know the compression is good. i know that my power is a bit low for 13 psi with my trim turbo, so do yall have any idea on what might be killing my power?

remember you have 9.0:1 CR pistons, some people run higher.
Also, your hondata tune may be more conservative than others

so your saying you wouldnt be disappointed with 278 whp at 13 psi?
i was thinking many people made more than this. i was expecting to be at least over 300 whp.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by r7 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">should be higher.. 245 whp @ 7psi, b16a here..</TD></TR></TABLE>
are you on stock CR or do you have 9.1???
oh, and i dont think this would matter too much but i could be wrong.
i wasnt running a filter or anything at all on the compressor when i was dynoing.
but i doubt that matters.

well the tuner is Ed here in GA at balanced performance. im not doubting his skills b/c hes tuned some very powerful cars down here and they all have been running strong.
he has been known to tune conservatively, but the same day he tuned a built b18c1 at 28 psi to 580 whp.
so do yall all think it is the tuning and not my motor?? i was thinking it was my motor and not the tuning b/c he has tuned high hp cars.
i know the block is good b/c the compression is all there. but i dont know what else may be causing such low numbers at 13 psi.

hrmm to be honest, ive heard some mixed opinions abour ur tuner, regardless Im gonna say its the tune. unless there is an exhaust leak or something before the turbo....that could cause a loss in power. did that guy give u a printout of your dyno chart?

i could be wrong though.

I forget who it was, but Ed dicked over somone on here pretty bad. and on that post someone else chimed in w/ a bad experience as well.
I cant see the picture. the server must be down.
See if you can get the .bin from this guy ed, have him email it to you, and forward it to me, I can take a look at it and see how your timing is set.
I noticed in your other post about the rough idle? whats that about, sounds to me he gave u a half-*** tune.

keep in mind that a lot of guys on HT are like sheep. meaning they like to jump on the bandwagon but if they got jerked, then it needs to be known .

What are you talking about?? I dont see people having issues with tuners as bandwagon jumping

Your timing is at 0? or the cam gears are set at 0,0?
If the timing is zero, that why your getting low power.

tuned right, a b18C should make about 350HP at 14psi with the right components. I had almost exact same setup and thats what my car made. most others i have tuned are about the same give or take 15-20HP
