--------- 04 EX Turbo, Engine Management?? ------------------
hey guys, i'm posting on behalf of my friend who has an 04 EX coupe and he just bought this turbo kit from http://www.procivic.com
http://www.procivic.com/pages-....html
none of us guys wants to install it ourselves we'd rather have a shop do it, but the shop we want emailed us back and said they wont be responsible if the motor blows cause there is no engine management for his particular setup.
now correct me if i'm wrong but this is a civic were talking about here, this cant be that hard to do
now i'm going to be boosting myself in the future and i figuired that he could use the same thing that comes in the Greddy kit, the Universal Greddy E-Manage.
now if you guys are thinking along the lines of oh its cheap Engine management or anything like that just be aware it doesn't matter, its just a bolt on kit for a daily driven car we aren't trying to get insane race power out of the thing.
Thanks for you input its greatly appreciated since we want to get this straight before we take it somewhere.

Emanage, PCS or AEM, those are your options. You can't backdate it to OBD I.
Emanage will run the show deciently, but make sure its conservative. the car will fight with you and learn the tune, so touch ups will be necessary as the miles rack up. I have no experience with PCS, the few people I've seen try it have to fight with it a lot, and EMS is... well EMS.

i didn't even think of the OBD, alright so when you say fight with you does that mean like the car will run crappy every once in a while til it learns the tune and how long would you say it'll take to get used to it??

by learning the tune.... the car is fighting you. It wants to run 14.7:1 all the time. Because the car runs closed loop until 80% throttle you dont have any control over what goes on below that since the car is shooting for 14.7 and will do anything in its power to get it. Once the car goes open loop, emanage takes over and the car will run the program. Some people have spent hours on a dyno trying to make emanage run closed loop, it just wont do it.
The car learning is adverse to the tune... since it learns, it modifies the fuel trim and you'll end up back at the tuner in 6 months for a touchup.
