**TURBO LS PINGING ALOT!!**
whats up everybody???
ive had my greddy turbo on my b18a in my 88 crx si for like a week now and it hasnt ran right yet! just hasent been boosting, well last night my friend gave me a new dist and that helped alot
but now my car pings alot....so i retarted the timing and when i retard it, it feels really slow again and about 3500 rpm's it feels like it bogs and falls on its face?? wtf? and it still wont blow off? what could be causing this?

well lets see.......i msd 6a with a blaster ss coil, msd cap and msd 8.5 mm wires, and 1 heat range colder plugs, i have no fuel upgrades, and my guages i have a boost gauge and air to fuel ratio.

Pinging means one of two things. Low octane fuel , or small fuel pump/dirty fuel filter. Put a guage on your window if possible and check what your fuel psi is at wide open throttle. If your pressure drops off when boosting your fuel pump just isn't cutting it. Be very carefull because when your car pings thats a warning somethings not right. If your motor is running 9 to 1 comp then you boost 10 psi your comp is now up to 15 to 1 (approx).

i agree... it may be your fuel setup. if you installed everything correctly then u have nothing to worry about.

okso you guys think fuel, what upgrades do you guys suggest??i just replaced the fuel filter, so what should i replace next?? fuel rail, fpr??? thanks!

when you boost you need fuel to compensate for the extra air being pushed into the motor. get something that increases fuel per psi of boost like a vortec FMU and an inline pump, injectors+standalone or afc,etc.
boost and no fuel equals BOOM!

yah everyone i know they run turbos on stock fuel and spark systems, i know its not too smart but they run great never had a problem?!?! and i have a vortech fmu..........what kind of fuel pump should i get? what size? should i get a afc first? can someone please give me a suggestion on exactly what i should do?
ohh yah and when i start my car in the morning, it takes a little bit of turning over to start it and then it will start but if i hit th gas it will bog down and die?? after it warms for about a minute i can then hit the gas no problem and it is fine! could this be my fuel pump??

ohhh yah and DLPLAYBOY ive seen that cromeaflair MR2 at cmi races and that mini truck, im on POWERLINE. thats the cleanest 1st gen mr2 ive ever seen!

at any rate...get a stand alone ECU and larger injectors...problem solved

actually my friends with like greddy powered zc's and a friend that has a 97 jdm type-r motor in his ef hatch with a greddy turbo also that had stock fuel set up! well anyways what size injectors and what do you mean stand alone ecu?? how much are they?? i am on a pretty tight budget

ok guys i was just reading about the AFC HACK, should i do this?? will this take care of my problem?? and with the fuel pump, is it a new in tank pump tjhat replaces the stock one or is it a in line?? thanks guys!

ok....i completely understand what the afc hack is....i just wanted to know if this will help meout???? and if you guys are saying that its my fuel....then why can i only boost 5 psi?? if i close the waste gate all the way it will still only boost at 5 psI?? will fuel problems cause this?

well fuel is definitly one of your problems, at the LEAST u need an FMU with inline fuel pump or in your case a greddy black box.. as for u only hitting 5psi, well that is either your preset setting in your wastegate or have something else wrong too..

YOU ARE SAYING IT BOGGS AT START? SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE TOO MUCH FUEL AT START. I WOULD CHECK YOUR VACCUM LINES OVER. I DISCONNECTED MY VACCUM LINE TO MY FPR JUST TO SEE WHAT IT WOULD DO, AND DOES WHAT YOU ARE SAYING.
ALSO I AM RUNNING 5PSI WITH A VORTEC FMU WITH STOCK FUEL PUMP AND I AM RUNNING FINE. THE FMU IS ONLY LIKE 150. JUST DONT GO OVER 5PSI OR YOU WILL START TO RUN LEAN!!!!!!!!
