**how do you know if the engine shop is ripping you off???
for example...if you get new pistons, rods, and getting your engine head milled and surface honing your cylinders...how do you know if they'll do the job or better yet, put in old parts and keeping your brand new pistons and rods?? i don't want to get ripped off....

I would think that you probably not have this problem with most machine shops but I quess I would also feel better if I know they changed them for sure.
They will hone the cylinders and mill the head because they won't take that risk, but I recommend to mark all your old rods & pistons and ask for them back after the job is done. (Tell them you need them for some reason).
Good luck!

Just keep up with the build. Tell them you want to document the build. Go in whenever they finish one of the process's and snap some pictures. I would do this anyway, even if I did trust the shop.
That should work...
