Solid CEL, constant revving...PLEASE HELP!!!
Ill get straight to the point. I tried getting my car tuned last Friday but my car always acts up. After the tuner hooks up his laptop to my car and tries to make any adjustments to my car, my car will rev up/down constantly. As soon as he touches something and makes an adjustment to it, solid CEL pops on and it revs. I asked him if he is removing the "checksum" and he said that he does. The thing is, he tuned 3 cars before mine and one after it, and all went well. He uses Crome btw.
If it helps, I took my car to a shop (RS Motors in Minnesota) about 2 years ago when i was NA and he tuned my car just fine.
Im confused and this is the second time this had happened. PLEASE HELP. I drive a 98 Integra GS it that helps at all!!!

Also, we tried giving it a run on the dyno...and right around 5000 rpms, its gets really rich(about 10.1 af) and starts to bog. Thats where he tried and to make an adjustment but hes not able to do so because the CEL will pop on and car will rev up/down.
Try burning an eprom chip, then making a run, then burning another chip to determine if the issue is with emulation/software.
If you continue to have issues, dump crome, switch to hondata s300 & be happy.

I think he did try and do that but wasnt able to make any adjustments. There nothing wrong with his software because he tuned 3 cars before mine and 1 after and they all turned out GREAT!

As i stated in the thread title....*SOLID CEL*. We check it when it comes on but it shows no code. Its a solid cel that doesnt blink. When nothings hooked up, i have no CEL. It only comes on and starts to rev up/down when the local tuner tries to adjust something.
Dude you shouldn't bump so much, but seriously, take the car to a different tuner, if you can get the hondata ecu. Also, on a mechanical standpoint, but very unlikely you can check your throttle body to make sure that it's not getting stuck open with carbon build up.
Also dude, get the CEL code, your car is a '98 which means OBD2, your CEL will stay solid until you look at the code/erase the code. Take your car to Autozone and have them hook up an OBD2 reader to it and it will tell you the code and most likely what the code means. This will help you find the problem. Even if the code is only when your tuner jacks in the code will be stored on your ecu for referance later.
Ok, first of all, I know how to check for CEL, and im trying to say that my car drives with the basemap on there with NO check engine lights. The check engine light only comes on when the tuner tries to make an adjustment to my ecu. At that point when my CEL comes on, we check it using the "paper clip" method and it shows no code. The CEL stays SOLID and does not blink, meaning there is no error, but I have no idea why its doing this. I have never seen this problem before. Yes I know my cars OBD2, its OBD2a to be exact.
you ask for help, and then you a dick to the people who respond??? is he using an ostrich? try just flat out burning a new eprom and then trying, if this doesnt work then your ECU is probley fried, send it to get fixed or buy a new one.... p.s i have a po6 for sale

Look man, I'm trying to help you. Now, if you're using the "paper Clip" method on an OBD2 car you're serouisly doing something wrong. There is an OBD2 Port under your dash. Don't put any paper clips or anything like that near it. Use said port to plug in an OBD2 reader/scan tool, Autozone has these on hand. You shouldn't have any problem if you do this. Also it will tell you what's going on. If you didn't fry your ECU it will store whatever code is giving you the CEL. Now if you don't want to take my advice you can continue to have problems, though this is not your best route I promise.
Nothing...I did have a plug and play Apexi VAFC conversion harness from Boomslang before but I removed it and put in a regular OBD2A to OBD1 conversion harness. Should I get a brand new ecu and try from there?
