rom verification error
ok so for the last week i have been burning maps on my prom with no problems using crome and a moates burn 2. then i come home one day and my a hole roomate unplugged my burner out of my computer for no reason. i didnt think much of it so i just plugged it back in and when i made some changes i went to burn it and it froze when it was trying to verify the burn. i also sometimes get a thing saying it wont connect and to check my eprom for propper connection. and of course first thing crome does is deletes my old tune so now i have a blank chip. ive tried reinstalling crome and my burn 2. i get the same ****. i've changed com's and even tried my lap top. im lost. anyone have any ideas? thanks
Check the com port speed (bits per second) and latency timer for the communications port and also verify that it's the same com port & speed in Crome. They should be the same port & speeds.
Give this a read over, How to burn chips with Crome. It may be able to help you find that small little glitch that is hiding in there.

i just double checked it all. its all the same. it even says it connect's when i test the connection but for some reason it wont verify. i even tried using the old crome and it does the same thing. idk if this means anything but when i am burning maps the blue light will start to blink but then when it tries to verify the light stays on and wont go off untill its unplugged. im just wondering if its the chip, burner or crome
Do you have another chip? I'm guessing that you don't. If you did you could dismiss that pretty quick. Do you have the Moates Flash & Burn software? If not download it from www.moates.net You can use flash & burn to load your saved Crome .bin files, erase chips & verify buffers. I've had quirky issues like this with Crome before. It's times like that when I'm glad I switched to eCtune. Before I had my Ostrich I always used Flash & burn to program my EEPROM chips. I never burnt chips directly from Crome.
I've noticed Crome not popping up that verification window a lot lately and freezing. I am not sure whats up with that.
If you want to be sure a program is verifying to a chip, save the file as a BIN, open up Flash and Burn and burn the BIN through there, and verify within the FnB program.

ok i did what you guys said basically everything works but it wont verify still... it will erase and verify the chip is blank but when i go to verify the burn it says its not matched. im starting to think my chip is junk. i talked to a guy at work thats big into computers and he said i could have trasfered static electricity and fried it without even noticing. im going to order some new chips i guess. if you guys got any other ideas let me know. thanks a ton
