anyone that tunes with a lap top
i have zdyne gold secu and i went to use it today and when i boot up zdyne it says "com port 1 not recognized " check tools and settings . so i did and i even went into BIOS and it is enabled but the program wont see it? what am i doin wrong? its a older ibm laptop with windows 98. i tried to select com port 2 and it says the same thing . can anyone help cause zdyne is useless without upload

ya i restarted it many times.. still same thing.. i dont wanna recgonize the com port for some reason but it is enabled under bios and device manager. i dont get it. it will work on the computer im on now but the ecu has to be plugged into the car so i need the laptop to do it.

did u try different baud rates? usually data bits are 8, no parity, stop bits is 1 and no flow control.....start the baud rate (bits per second) from the highest rate and test...keep going downwards and test to see if it helps!
its prefered to do this on the software you are using on your ecu....does zdyne software have port settings? if yes perform the above on zdyne...if not try it from device manager

is this a direct USB connection between your laptop and ecu or a USB to serial adapter/convertor in between? i would suggest upgrading to Win 2k (myself am using XP Pro) and i think you need a virtual driver from the net! most of the com problems are from the drivers used which most likely are out of date!!!
i went through this and everything is good on my side now, but apparently i went through this when i got my chipped ecu and wanted to run the ostrich and datalogging!
