Icon2 Retarded CEL

Ok, im throwing a code 21 VTEC solenoid...not a stupid question that already has threads i promise. Heres the thing. The CEL light stays on even after reseting the ecu (pulling the 7.5 back up fuse) correct me if im wrong but its outta the haynes so i would imagine its correct. So i wont even have to start the car for it to come on and the solenoid and wiring is fine tested them with a multimeter and hotwired the solenoid. what im really wondering is what component in the ecu would be jacked up and causing this. 5 pin IC14? Oh and VTEC doesnt work to save a couple replies. I did all the work myself im quite experienced but i had a couple gauged joints so it took a little more heat to solder them so i might of overheated it idk. but any help would be awesome

Thanks

What ECU are you working on and what version is the main board? What components have you added? Or is this a VTEC ECU that you are trying to repair? A little more info might help. Sounds like it could be a soldering issue, an improper or missing component or it could be a component failure.

If this is a non VTEC ECU that you are adding VTEC too. I suggest that you check all of your solder joints. Also make sure all of the components have been installed properly for the main board version you have. You say that you had to use more heat, did you discolour the board or melt the component?

the board is fine no burns pherable confirmed that is fine through pics (quality of work and no missing parts) im worried about components. Its an 11f0 p06 ecu running a mini me single cam d15b7 bottom d16y8 top, ive added vtec components and chipped it, the chip i know works because it doesnt lag and its faster so i know thats right. oil pressure i havent tested it yet because haynes says you need to take off the oil filter and test it from the oil pressure sensor port and is a pain to get to w/o the oil filter off but even if that was a problem that doesnt explain the CEL i know its gotta be something with the ecu i just dont wanna buy another one if i just need to replace something simple.

Well if you tested the solenoid and the wires and they are good. The next logical step is the ECU (added components) or the tune. They told you that the solder quality was good as well. If you have been in contact with Phearable and they said the quality of all the solder joints are good, then that narrows it down. Probably a component failure..... IC14......

Can you post up the pictures that you took?

thats correct its just a dd so im not gonna put alot of money into it i just want it to be able to put me back in my seat a little and VTEC it an amazing thing as you know. my stock chip runs fine its just stock. this chips low rpm tuning is on the dot with how i want it for the low end but no VTEC and yea i ordered it directly from phearable. but if you know how to test components im a master with a multimeter and a run performance tech so i know my way around most things its just the knowing exactly what all the components do is the problem but i appreciate any help
