Default Quick Question on timing

im new to the whole tuning thing but i got my s300 and dyno tuned my stock ls to 131 whp 132 wtq with stock header, gutted cat, 2.5" exhaust and aem intake; by just adjusting fuel ratio.

i think i can pull a little more out of it, by adjusting my timing in Smanager can anyone tell me which way i should go? add or subtract?

thanks in advance. sorry for the noobness.

Running the proper air fuel ratio & ignition timing values will make more power :-)
Running too much timing can actually cause harm, so can running too little.
The best bet would be to dyno tune the vehicle for the best result.

The timing map for the stock p74 calibration in the Smanager software has more then enough timing in it for you to make good numbers on your setup.

The most important thing to consider when looking at ignition timing maps is the fact that your distributor needs to be synced to the engine management system. I.E. 16.5 deg btdc = 16.5 deg btdc in the software. For more information read the smanager help file.

If your air fuel ratio was on target at full throttle (13.0-13.5:1) for your setup you should be fine.

do you think the gain in power will be worth the time and effort?

Depends which map your running & what your air fuel ratios look like

read the thread in the faq about reading spark plugs. It will help you in your venture of tuning timing.

also, while you are tuning, only pay attention to the torque graph. If you didnt gain anything from adding timing, try removing timing.

Run the least amount of timing that makes the best power. Your engine has a huge window for error so just play around with it. If you dont hear BB's in a glass jar then you are likely ok.

i would recommend reading this article by jeff evans
