Default P72 Chipping??

Okay I have a p72ao1 in my civic. I just did a B18C1 swap, it redlines at 6800 or 7, I don't have a programer and i wanna get it to like 7800. If i chip it will this do it or just open up a can of bad worms? Also will 7800 hurt my COMPLETLY STOCK engine?? I really need that extra 1k rpms. Thanks for the help.

A stock GSR can rev to 8000rpms no isssues but it will stop making power around 7800. If it is a OBD1 P72 then yes you can have it chipped and tuned.

I know i can get it tuned i guess what i'm asking is my p72 wont rev past 6800 it hits the rev limiter. Why is that? This car is gutted so no actually ses light in it but it may have a code thrown not sure.

The stock revlimit is 8200 rpms.
Check your codes & resolve them.
After resolving your codes if your still seeing an "early" revlimit then you need to try another tach.

okay so i road race this things and the dash is gone, no cluster. I check wiring harness and said green/orange for check engine light. I tried putting a test light on it but no luck. Is there any way to check it without getting the cluster back in?

If it is OBD2 96 or newer plug a scanner into the DLC and read the codes. I would also check to make your it really is a GSR P72 ECU.
