Default p30 on a SOHC??

i jus bought a p30 ecu and the guy told me that when i get it chipped that i could have it converted to SOHC to run on my boosted d16. i know its pretty much the same ecu or close to it minus the fact its made to run a DOHC and has a higher redline.. can it be converted?? i searched but no luck...

It isn't being "converted" you are just putting a D16 basemap on the chip. All obd1 civic/integra ecus share the same code. So you can interchange the program on any ecu to run any of the other engine models without a real problem.

You just have to disable the proper sensors for the ecu/car and it will work just fine.

You could use either one.

If the P30 is already chipped, then just get the reprogrammed.

The real cost that comes with buying a chipped ECU is having it tuned on a dyno. Just becuase your freind has a car with a similar setup does not mean that his ECU will run well in your car. A base map bought from a company, or downlaoded from someone that does not have access to your car. Will not run as well as a properly tuned one will. Most companies that supply base maps with chipped ECUs will have a disclaimer. Stating that the ECU should be tuned for optimum performance as soon as posible. Then it is up to you, the owner, to have it done.

^^^ im aware of all that. im not gonna put the ecu in until the same day i get tuned. im jus saying it has to be chipped first in order to be tuned. im askin is will it cost more to chip it for my car since its orginally a dual cam ecu..

No

Dual cam or single cam has no bearing on the actual chipping of the ECU.
