Default p28 or p72?

I want to convert my car to obd1 but i am not sure if its better to use a p28 or a p72 a01? If it helps, I will want to turbo the car at some point.

If the P72 is OBD1 and you're chipping it then it doesn't matter.

Depends on what motor you have. If you are working on a GSR (B18C1), I would go with either one. If you are using a D16z6, D16y8, or B16A1/2/3, go with a P28 instead. It's cheaper and more readily available.

If he's boosting it, once the MAPs are on it then it won't matter. But since he never even said what engine he's talking about who knows?

its a jdm b18c. The only reason i asked this question is because the kid i bought the p72 a01 from said he used a p28 for his gsr turbo build and it was more common. I will be chipping the ecu next monday. But i guess it does not matter too much if you don't mind not having a knock sensor or secondary butterflies?

It doesn't mater AT ALL. You can program whatever you need to on the MAPs so I don't understand why you think you have to do without.

If you already have the P72 then it's better to stick with it and get it chipped and tuned. After they have been chipped. The only advantage the P72 really has over the P28 is the IAB circuit. Somehow I doubt that you will be using that on a boosted build though. Always useful as an option for anther I/O though.

Good luck with your build
