I want to know what kind of issue one would experience by changing out the stock crystal with something a tad faster? The reason i bring this is up, because i know it's possible and have not seen any discussion on the subject.

I was drunk the other night chipping an ecu for myself and was wondering about the crystal. If it was changed what in the world would happen. I figured it would run but everything would be f'd up. IDK i was drunk.
Gotta love chipping ECU's, working on electronics and doing wiring drunk. If it turns out every time then you know that you are a very focused drunk with steady hands, unlike most...

lol everytime i look at my arm i see a 3 inch scar that reminds me i can't solder drunk because i dont remember where i put the soldering iron until i lay my forearm across it
this topic is interesting but i dont think that the ecu is holding anything back in terms of processing power.

x2 on the SMT being easier and faster, as long as you have a good tip on your iron all you have to do is remove the board coating (obviously) add a bit of flux and gently drag the tip along the contacts. Down one side then the other. There is usually enough solder already on the board to do the trick. If not I go back and add more when required....and that's not very often.
That's why I made it a habit never to lay my iron down. I always put it back into the holder I have at my station.
i probably would have a few burns if not for that as well...lol

At least it's not SMT soldering that would be brutal.
