Default NOOB post: which chip kit

a local friend is helping me with my first honda build. He sent me a link to the kit to order to have my ecu chipped. (po6)

the car is a 95 dx hatch and I'm swapping an LS and am going to be boosting it. The kit he told me to order includes a vtec conversion kit. Is there any reason for me to have this with an ls block and ls head? I think he forgot which head I'm using but he def. knows a LOT more than me. I'm about to order the stuff so please reply asap.

Chris at Xenocron

You can have vtec added onto your ecu but you don't need it with a ls motor. It's just good to have if you do ever decide to take a different route.

There is no reason to add vtec components to your ecu at this time as you are running a non-vtec engine. All you need is a DIY chip kit with a basemap.

If you have never worked with electronics boards before, you would be better off mailing in the ecu to some one to have the ecu socketed/chipped.

^ two questions.....

As payment for him chipping my ecu I agreed to buy some of his parts to chip a project he is doing. I was wondering if you sell a chip/vtec conversion kit without a basemap?

2nd question, on your site where I plug in all the info for a base tune, will p06 work for ecu info or do you need me to get the whole number off of it?

^ on Moates site it's even cheaper but I like all the extras that come with the base tune from PHEARABLE. I also appreciate them posting in here with help. But, we'll see with the answer to my first question. Thanks for the heads up though.

No, all of our chip kits come with basemaps.
Concerning the base tune, we don't need the whole number off the ecu for the DIY chip kit.
