Default NA/ ITB tunning.

Right now I'm working on a NA build with my B18C-R and Im splurging for the TODA ITBs... am I going to have to have the AEMS EMS to tune these or some sort of standalone instead of my chipped ECU.

Just change your fuel maps on the chip. The ITB's suck in more air everything else is the same.

Both Hondata S300 and NepTune RTP can do hybrid maps and or straight alphaN if you wish.

IMO, it is much easier to tune an ITB car with a hybrid MAP/AlphaN load source setup using the primary and secondary map features of the programs.

It is generally a good idea to have a decent sized vacuum block so you can use the map sensor for light load and idle and then switch to alphaN (secondary map) after a certain throttle percentage or map load.

If you have no idea what I just said in the above post, then I suggest contacting your local tuner of choice and see if they can lend you a hand. ITBs can be a serious pain in the *** to get just right.

I haven't tuned an ITB setup yet but I understand your editor needs to support alpha-n tuning which uses RPM, temperature and TPS to calculate the amount of fuel to inject as opposed to using the manifold absolute pressure and RPM to calculate the amount of fuel to inject (speed density).

I know Crome supports Alpha-N tuning via it's ITB plug-in but I have not used it. Good luck!

Pretty much all of the software for OBD1 Hondas out there now supports the switch between speed density and alpha-n. And yes at least Crome has the Alpha-N function as well.

Love the MegaSquirt software options, it now has a dual map tuning solution called ITB load mode. Along with the usual engine load type tuning solutions, speed density, mass air flow and alpha-n.

Explanation of how it works here!
