K-Pro Counterfeit warning
It has come to our attention that counterfeit K-Pros are being sold as new and used. This counterfeit circuit board is a poor quality copy of the version 2 K-Pro with on-board datalogging.
Counterfeit K-Pro characteristics:
Typically sold with an ECU as used on online forums for a low price.
Often sold with unsupported ECUs (part numbers 37805-PND-A51 through A59 ECU (Base RSX Auto)
The installation is poor, with bad soldering, missing serial numbers and missing or incorrect value components.
The counterfeits show some or all the following behaviors:
- Failure to upload or datalog.
- Speed sensor problems.
- Random rev limits.
- Failure to start
- Corruption of ECU table data.
We strongly recommend that a vehicle is not driven on a counterfeit K-Pro due to risk of engine damage.

Wow... If these people would invest this much effort into their own creation rather than duplicating another manufacturer's they'd be doing so well. Sad to see people still doing this kind of manipulating to make a buck.

Re: K-Pro Counterfeit warning
My question is, does anyone at Hondata answer the phone?
I've tried calling several times to no avail. I have some information they would probably like on this guy and I want to know if they're going to give us, the victims, what information they have in regards to him.
Here I was, buying from someone who told me they were an authorized dealer (should've done my reearch), thinking I was supporting Hondata and I feel like they don't want my business now. $750 is a lot to kick down when I've been robbed $850 already. Some support from the company, or any information about a pending case or possible class action suit would be awesome (if we're lucky enough for there to be one).
I don't know, I can't get hold of the seller, paypal is absolutely no help so far. I am going to try to get my bank to reverse the fees paid to paypal from June, but who knows if that will work.

Project, I'm sure in most legal cases like this, your counsel would not tell you to give out any public info like you are asking for...
I'm sure Hondata is spending a bunch of money to go after whoever is part of this fiasco.

Re: K-Pro Counterfeit warning
Amazingly enough, he contacted me last night. He sent me an email asking for my phone number (the guy I bought the ECU from). I figure it is to block my phone number, but I replied stating that if he wanted to contact me to give me a number to reach him at and I would call him immediately to resolve the issue.
I guess if it comes down to it, I am filing a police report where he lives and waltzing into my bank to get them to reverse the fees. Paypal can take it in the *** since they're of no help so far, then they can go after him to get their money back. I wish it didn't have to be this way, but it is.
update: although hope is minimal, I may eventually be getting my money back.

Re: K-Pro Counterfeit warning
Has anything happened with this *******? I still haven't seen a penny out of him and was curious if Hondata pressed charges against him for counterfeiting and if he was prosecuted or not?
