Default Hondata Quick spool

Anyone using the quick spool feature in hondata under boost control tab as opposed to setting a high duty cycle in the lower rev range?

Hondata site;

"This tables opens up the boost control solenoid completely and closes the waste gate to build up boost faster. Once the pressure reaches the value in the table the solenoid goes back to its normal duty cycle. When using this feature, we recommend setting the solenoid activation pressure to 1 pound of boost, and the quick spool pressures to 1 or 2 pounds below target boost levels. To disable quick spool, set the values in the table lower than the solenoid activation pressure"

My tuner just used the duty cycle method basically using higher duty cycle in every gear up until about 4k rpm at which point the duty cycle was lowered to an appropriate level for desired boost
Unfortunately hes not that familiar with hondata, I have to re-do my duty cycles anyway since its boost spiking on the street (didnt spike on the dyno due to load differences)

Doesnt make much a difference from my experience. Its just throwing pressure at the top waste gate port to keep it from leaking at all and allowing the turbine to get the most energy.

you using a 4 port solenoid? just curious what frequency and duty cycle you have used to get roughly 2x spring pressure?

the 60% duty and 43hz my tuner used seems to boost to the moon

My plan was to test 10 15 and 30 %duty cycle with a 31 hz frequency tomorrow, unfortunately not many open roads around here so I need to be super careful

Mine is a 3 port, @ 31 hz. Doesn't do much until about 25% and from about 25% to 60% is 16-30psi with a 15 lb waste gate spring. I'm putting in a 11 lb spring so thats going to change obviously. We'll see what it does.

cool thanks for the info. Im currently on a 8.7 PSI spring, trying to get this figured out 1-3rd had no traction and 4-5 boost spike when I first got it back.

Just did a run I was able to manage 10 psi in 4th and 11 in fifth with 30 and 35 duty cycle I believe. I will share my data once I have everything locked down and analyse everything at this point im still gathering data, Hope to have more info later today

Im seeing how well I can get traction on this spring first, I already achieved traction in 3rd, If I cant get traction with better tires in second gear Ill swap back to my smaller spring I think its like 5.75 PSI
