Default having the correct temp when tuning..?

hi duders. my radiater fan relay caught on fire becuase sum1 told me to wire it wrong. i wire it according to the instructions then it dont work

so. ima wire the fan to a switch. now to tune with proper temp
do i wait for cluster to tell me its halfway hot and then flip the fan switch. or will that be too late and heat soak occurs?
or can i just flip the fan switch when i turn the car on?, but then it wont get up to temp correct?

Wire the fan to a factory themoswitch. Don't use a manual switch unless the car is a race car & you plan on running the fan all of the time.

..it is a track car. its not for the road but we are street tuning it.
and the factory fan turn on point was too late and it would over heat

Sounds like you ahve your answer then. By the way, there is a huge range of actual temperature while the needle appears to be "up to temp." I have seen as much as 35 degrees difference and the needle never moves. Once the needle heads to Hot though its already over 205. If you are street tuning, run the fan once the car gets half way to the normal as I am sure you will already be driving at roughly 45mph anyway.

You really should just wire the factory fan wires to pull down a new 40amp relay and then trigger your fan with good 12/10g wiring. So, factory fan wires cut and soldered to relay, then 12/10g from battery with fuse inline thru relay to fan positive. 12/10g for a short ground going to body of car off fan. Done. Works every time and use EMS to trigger when the fan comes on from inside the car while driving.
