Default ecu question

Ok guys, I have a 94 civic ex (coupe obviously) with a y8 in it. It currently has a P06 but its chipped so it runs super rich and I'm pretty sure my v-tech isn't engaging. My girls brother is a mechanic at a Honda dealership. He told me I could just hook up a P28 instead and it will run fine. He said since the y8 is converted to obd1 for my car the p28 would be fine since thats what was originally used in my car.
I was wondering if this was true, or would I have to get a jumper harness or anything because I've done a few yahoo search's and I've seen a few ppl mention p2p jumpers and things of that nature. I'm new to swaps and so any helpful info would be greatly appreciated.
You can pm me, email me at chuckles1_1985@yahoo.com or text 513 846 1143 anytime day or night. (if you could text me for fastest response that would be great)
As always, thanks in advance for any help.

your chipped p06... what kind of program is in it? sounds like you just need to get a new program or a better basemap. if you dont know anything about the program, you really should change it.
I and many others here on HT can set you up with a good program to run in your chipped p06.

Your easiest option would be to find a P28. It will plug right in and since your car is an EX model, vtec should already be wired in.

On a side note, you can get the p06 converted to VTEC and get a better basemap chip for it to run the y8 engine really well. We offer this at a decent price if interested in going that route

yea a new chip or a free reflash would be most cost effective. that way you can test for very little then decide if you need to replace your ecu. PM sent.

If anyone sends me their eeprom, I will upload a basemap for free. just cover shipping.
