I honestly dont think freelog even works anymore. Cromepro is only $150 or so. Search for actual cost.

Spend your money on eCtune, hondata or neptune instead. You will be much happier.

Why you need datalogging? Just put the thing on a dyno and make adjustments where needed. It's not hard.

There are several reasons why you would want to be able to view live data from the ecu.
1. Make sure the ect & iat values are correct.
2. Make sure your map sensor is reading the correct values.
3. Be able to cell trace for people who can't "guess".
4. Make sure tps is reading properly etc....

The list goes on.

I think it's a nice little addition, but definitely not neccessary to get a great tune. If he isn't going to shell out 150 for legal Crome then it's not going to hold him back is my main point. I still never use datalogging lol.. only on PFC occassionally

Maybe we should all stop using romulators too?
We should also start using UV erase chips again too!

lol

Guessing works, but whats the point of technology? To make our lives easier in some ways. LOL You wont want to guess anymore once you start Datalogging.

Guessing??? It's not guessing. If you are on a dyno then everything is plotted right there in front of you. Rpm, torque, AFR, and Load. What more do you need? Ohhhh you want to know the EXACT cell so you don't mess up. That's sad if you "need" alllllll that little info to do a proper tune. Even when I tune blow-through carbs it's not guessing.. it's knowing the system. I'm sorry that some people are spoiled with "technology" and are in-capable of tuning without every single little piece handed to them.

The thing is I didn't jump in here to knock on datalogging... just that it isn't NECESSARY for this guy to tune his car. All he needs is a dyno and some time and he's good to go!!! LOL You guys are telling him that he's FUBAR because he has free crome and it's just not true!!!

I never said anything about free Crome being bad, used it before and never had an issue. Not many people have dyno's to use FYI. Datalogging is good for street tuning.

I apologize I just got a little defensive which is lame I know. Datalogging is a great feature and can make things easier no doubt. It's just a personal thing.. I started tuning years ago on turbo carb setups and from there transitioning in to stand alones and such never even thought about using data logging. Street or dyno :/

There's gotta be a dyno around no? That would suuuuuuck. If not, with patience and hopefully some common sense (tuning wise) there shouldn't be an issue. Using 4th gear and going little by little it's still not an issue in my mind. Have someone drive while he watches gauges with laptop in passenger seat

Dataloggin allows you to record and then make your changes if you dont have someone to sit in the car with you. Its a nice feature and helps keep the drivers eyes on the road.

Yes it does... but what happens when you've already detonated? Might be too late I just think it can allow too much comfort in certain situations for people less experienced.

If a person doesn't have enough friends to where they can not get a driver for a little bit.. well they probably wouldn't have the car in the first place :D
