Chip or Tune
So I have a 97 ek hatcback with a 98 GSR swap going into a chipped p-28 with a gsr map. My question is am I suppose to have this tuned also or it being chipped good enough to run correctly? Only thing i have is a cold air intake, blox intake manifold, stock headers, stock exhaust, 6-puck clutch.
I've tuned about 50 of those, and they all yielded very similar maps.
If it was chipped by someone like myself, there's a chance it "could" be close to what you need. There's also a chance it could be on the brink of destruction.
...Why risk it?

Here's a story, skip it if you'd like. I was reading an article about cold air intakes. On a couple of the big trucks that could actually take advantage of it with their stock ECU set up, there were gains. When they put it on a Honda though, they saw no increase on the dyno. They did however see the stock ECU changing the timing. Meaning they could tune the timing back to gain more power. Bolt can change your HP, Torque, power curve, ect, but it is much more noticable when you tune for these changes instead of letting the ECU guess.
I'd do some tuning.
