So I have a 98 ek hatch with a stock d16y7. I need help reading an error code 88? 8 long flashes and 8 short flashes. Its OBD2, and I got the code by jumping the service connector. I cant find any code like this in my repair manual, if u can link me to something about reading codes that would be great, or if u know please tell me what the code this is for.

There's not an 88 that I'm aware of. You may have either miscounted the flashes or it's two seperate codes, 80 & 8. The Y7/P2E doesn't have or look for an EGR (code 80).

What's the original trim of the car?
Have you checked to see what ecu is in it?

 

Yep I believe you could be right on code 80 and 8. Can u tell me what those are? And its a 98 ej6 (ek hatch). Its got the stock P2E ecu.

 

With a P2E a code 80 doesn't exist.

80 (P0401) Exhaust gas recirculation isuficient flow. EGR valve
8 (P1359, P1361 or P1362) TDC or CYP sensor or circuit

You may want to have the code pulled with a scan tool by a parts store if you don't know anyone that has one. It will be more specific and eliminate the possability of user error, especially sine one of those codes doesn'r apply to your ecu.
