Can i alternate between two diff. tuned Ecu's ?
sup HT. I have an stock ITR motor with i/h/e on my 91 civic si. the wiring was made to run the obdII oem ecu. I was thinking of getting the s300 but its out of my budget right now. I was sondering if i could keep using my P73 ecu for daily driving and get a chipped obdI p28 with an obdII-obdI jumper harnes for just track use.Can this be done safely???
thanks!
thanks!
is a chipped p28 better that my stock p73. reason is most shops i have asked say they always use the itr base map. will it be worth getting an s300 on my internally stock motor? i plan to get the slightly bigger prelude injectors.
If you were running a completely stock engine, with a stock cat, stock intake, stock header, the p73 would be ideal. If you are running an intake, header, exhaust, no cat etc.. a chipped obd1 vtec ecu would be ideal.
The best bang for the buck would be a chipped obd1 vtec p28 spec ecu & having it dyno tuned using the re-programmable eprom chip.
Hondata s300 is great, but it is expensive and a bit over kill for an application like yours.
He didn't ask about switching maps.
He asked about switching between a stock p73 and a chipped obd1 p28.
There is no need for a moates 2 timer with his application.
There is also no need to switch between ecus if his chipped p28 has a good tune on it.

i understand what he is asking. but my impression was he wanted a street tune and a strip tune. we as if he has the chipped ecu with a 2timer he wouldent need 2 ecus.
IMO:
If he is running the same fuel on the street & on the track (which he should) with his setup, then there is no reason to have 2 tunes. A properly tuned all motor itr setup like his should get good gas mileage and make solid power when properly tuned on a single tune.

IF.............
i dont know. just giving a suggestion on how to do what he wants to do without the hassle of 2 ecus..........

wow lots of options thanks.
Im leaning towards a p28 chipped ecu. i saw that rywire sells pre maped p28. should i buyg one like that and tell them my info? i know that a dyno tune is better but they are gonna do the same as the rywire ecu which is a burned base map. is there someting im missing beside dyno pulls and switching chips to get the best one. thanks again
