Default Been out of the scene for a while...

What are people using to tune turbo applications these days on OBD2 cars? Back when I was in the scene, we were using chipped ecu's, but honestly that seems like primitive technology, seeing how old it is. Do we have stand alones yet? Looking to purchase soon.

Thanks!

Chipped ECU's are still in use for Non K series engines. If it ain't broke don't fix it. A chipped ECU still works just fine for most applications, Neptune Demon is probably the front runner in that field. Others like Hondata S300 are really over priced for what it can do comparatively.

For those of use who have moved on to converted COP or K series engines. There is the Hondata K-Pro, basically a chipped OBD2 ECU. Or there is the stand alone route, AEM, Motech, Haltech or MegaSquirt III.

I see, after i posted I did a bit more research. I can't really remember, but was it, it doesn't matter what ECU you have if its chipped? Like I can use a d16y7 ecu with a chip on a b18b as long as I atleast have a base map?

The D16Y7 ECU would be out of a 96+ therefore it would be OBD2. That ECU would not work.

However you have the right concept. A chipped OBD1 P06 (Civic D15B SOHC Non VTEC) could be used to run a B16a (DOHC VTEC) with the VTEC conversion added to it and running a B16a basemap.
