Default base map vs stock map?

Ok, say i ordered a jdm d15b had the option to get the factory ecu for another 125. Would it b better to get that or order a chipped ecu with a "stock base map". Of course I would want a functional o2, 8k rev limiter, 4k vtec, no speed limiter.

Can a person chip a ecu and fully replicate a stock ecu? Same ign and fuel tables?

Not 100% sure about that. I chipped a P06, downloaded and burnt a stock F22B2 basemap onto the chip without any problems. I was able to datalog and I also had a wide band O2. The AFR's were pretty much bang on. I checked my plugs every other day for signs of detonation or fouling and they remained relatively clean.

Now to trust a base map without some way of monitoring it's processes would be a bit sketchy.

Are you planning to do any further modifications to the engine? If your just going to run it stock/maybe some bolt-ons. I would go for the stock ECU.

Yeah its for a buddy of mine and weve already purchased the chipped ecu for 110. He doesnt have a tach so I wanted the shift cel and it feels better with vtec a lil lower on the d-series. I also want to add a nitrous wet kit on later (ran my b16 w/chipped ecu and a 75 shot for a year) but i want to b sure the ign timing is stock. Im not real worried the jetting recomendations r completely conservative but its just for peace of mind. The guy chipping it was highly recommended but he told me he could not copy a factory ecu so he gave me one of a tune he did with the parameters i requested. This motor does have intake mani, tb, exhaust, etc..

It just baffled me, i thought for sure u could copy stock maps. I always thought I was safe with running a "stock base map" (granted from a reputable person or company) and assuming all fuel and ign tables were stock so i could work from there
