anybody using opensource stuff on linux boxes?
ust wondering if it is possible, of course kpro, crome, and ectune can't be used but the free spurce stuff is. anybody try recompiling it in a penguin powered computer?
well, this may not be the greatest option, but you could download the VirtualBox vm and install it on your linux system, then run windows through the VM, and run the tuning software on windows through the VM, but that still requires a copy of windows.
Also, the mono project or WINE may allow you to run some of the tuning software on PGMFI.org with various levels of success.
as far as recompilation is concerned, There isn't a whole lot of source available aside from turboedit and ecucontrol, so that may not help much unless you are OBD0. I did some work on a port of the VB6 version of ECUControl to move it to VB.net, which may be your best shot at atleast datalogging an OBD0 or 1 ecu on a linux machine through mono.. The vb.net port of ECUControl should be available on PGMFI.org if you search for threads created by me using the sanimalp username. If the codebase isnt available anymore, because i never checked in into source control, then i can probably come up with a copy of the code, so let me know.

i would love to have that source man, it looks like since they went to that phbb logo and the owner change the website is just horribly slow, and it looks like they lost ALOT of stuff.

alright, here is a copy of the ECUControl 5 .net package i worked on. http://mycomputerninja.com/~jon/ECUControl5_Net.zip
There is a changelog in the folder where you can read about what i did. The entire package was converted to vb.Net, and the source is there if you want to mess around with it. MS has a free copy of Visual Studio basic that is available, which is what i used to do most of the work. My main objective was to remove the proprietary guage software since i didnt want to pay to use it. the software is buggy but it works, and i may be able to help if you have questions.. I may also set up a SVN repo to contain it, since it never got commited to the original ECUcontrol svn dir that i know of. There is also an installer .exe directory, in case you just want to try to get it working through MONO.. good luck.
