Default Accel Dfi advice/ help??

So a friend of mine has had great success using, I already know guys!, a gen 7 accel dfi set up on his single turbo mustang that I did the fab work for. So when I came acrost a good deal on the same set up with wire harness etc I picked it up. I would consider myself to have decent experience with many different types of systems.

So my question actually is does anyone out there that has previously tuned with this system on a turbo B series care to share any data/ info? I don't have any data to start with at all and the calibration wizards are not that great. I'm going to accel dfi school in a little under a week and would like to have something to start up my set up with in my race car and be able to data log some and bring that data with me to school. I'm guessing it would be the best way to do some really proactive learning and force myself into finally getting my car to the track!! lol

Thanks in advance. And please keep the negative stuff out guys. I'd just like advice that doesn't include completely changing over to an Aem or hondata or crome.

Hate to break it to you but there isn't a single sole that has used a accel dfi on a honda that I know of. There is no point...

There's very few people that even use DFI anymore. DFI Gen 6 was used back in 1996-2000 on Hondas, then came Gen 7. I only know of a few people that tuned Hondas with DFI and that was Jobe Spetter Jr from Turbo People NY- which i think does not tune to public anymore. Ralphy from DRT, and i think* Jason hunt

In the Honda-world, that's 100% accurate. But in the V8 world, Accel is still very popular and arguably the best "bang for your buck" for those guys.... We sell and support a lot of them.

We have a tech here named Earl who's tuned hundreds of Gen VII's , I'm sure he could help you with the Accel end of things. A crank trigger might be the tallest hurdle since adjusting phasing through software isn't like other systems. The crank trigger must be set between 0 deg. (TDC) and 20 deg. BTDC, it won't recognize a signal before or after that. The rest should be fairly straight forward. Feel free to call or e-mail.
248 362 1145 or earl@kinsler.com

Luke & Josh at 4-Piston had a K-series running on a classic FAST box and that's just as (if not more) limited than a Gen VII.

yeah Jobe actually is the guy that tuned Gary Gardella back in the day. I really don't understand why there's so much close minded thinking with the use of these systems.

I'm actually currently, right now, in St. louis, MO area @ accel DFI tuning school. And after seeing the difference between many systems I have complete confidence in my current set up. Tomorrow we're putting a mini cooper with an extremely mild ls/vtec swap on the dyno along with my close friends 94 mustang single precision 98mm turbo 363 car on the dyno. And also I believe an ls based swapped porsche. I've in one day learned the ins and outs of this system and have confidence in my set up. Just before coming here I haven't been able to find any support at all. Eli Nahad has insured me that we will be able to in the future throw down some respectable numbers.

Thanks for the advice and info though. Never know I may need to get with someone more local to my area in Michigan and sort some things out if need be. But at this point I will be starting from scratch tuning myself until I can get on the dyno somewhere with someone that I can trust and have faith in their advice and ability. I'm not trying to be a dick. I just wanted to know if anyone else out there had any solid advice on my set up for the management side of this build. At this point I've tuned plenty of other systems and have seen more reasons to run accel over plenty of others.

I have a Gen 7 on my Civic Road Race car. It's all motor, but still. I have the complete set up, wide band, dual sync and so on. I built the harness with the flying lead kit that Accel has which worked out. The system works well for what I've needed. The start up model worked for me to get the car started with ease. I went right onto the dyno after I started up and haven't had any issues since. I've had much of the tuning done by others, so I can't provide too much feedback but I can talk about some of the basics if you'd like to bounce anything off of me.

thanks a bunch for the offer! I have it figured out quite well now. It's actually very easy to use. I don't understand why more people aren't using these systems over all of the others. This stuff is GOLD!! thanks again!
