Too bad that level of porting isn't accessible for everyone. Sure puts hand porting to shame. The precision alone surpasses anything a human hand can do.

Hand porting is a skill to do it right without a flowbench. Reason why labor costs... to do it by hand...

I am not sure how long it takes the CnC machine to do a Port job. But I imagine quicker. So in theory one day will it be a lot cheaper then a hand port ever was? Possibly so Will it be a lot better flow obviously.

 

The new generation Port machines leave such a better finish than the older ones , and do it in 1/3 the time ,only bad thing is ,the $$$ of the machine ,

 

Which translates to $$$ to the customer putting this quality of porting out of reach of the average joe for the time being.

Some day this will be the economical standard, but for now it's only for the wealthy and the supported race teams (sponsored).

 

Well , I am no way rich , but I am going to try and make it affordable for the average Joe ,being that is who most of my customers are , (Sportsman Racers)

Yes it is expensive machine , but I have a lot of Block work to do on it also , Sleeves for the Honda's

 

From a hand to CNC aspect . . . you only have to do one port by hand and then mirror/replicate it so the amount of time physically spent with the grinder is considerably less.


Very nice OP. I'm a year or two out on buying a Centroid/Rottler or Hurco (5 axis for engine work) if they ever quit teasing PRI and finally jump in instead of dipping their toes in with a bore/hone attachment for a standard VMC.

The hard part really is the price . . . got to keep the machine going 24/7 or have a ton coming in to offset $250k+ hence why I am hoping more players in the market make the price come down some.

Call me when u can , I have 5 years of research (procrastinating) involved in all the manufacturers , the evolution of these units are different and prices , but remember the Centroid is a turn key unit , no hidden cost

 

Yes , I have seen your work , and ya'll do some beautiful stuff , don't know how long it will take us to get as good as ya'll , probably a while , I will definitely call you,

I don't think people know how hard it it is to make a nice finished piece, It's one thing to have all the "fancy"high dollar equipment , and quite another to make a good finished part , takes practice and determination , Ya'll have got it down.
