D16 TDC valves open?
The cam on this y8 head is set at TDC, cyl 2 exhaust valves are open and cyl 3 intake valves are open. Is this correct?
Some valves will always be open when a camshaft is installed in the cylinder head. At TDC ("UP" mark points at about the 12 O-clock position), all four valves in cylinder #1 should be closed. If you turn the camshaft counter-clockwise 90' ("UP" mark at about 9 O-clock position), then all four valves in cylinder #3 will be closed. 90 more degrees counter-clockwise ("UP" mark now pointing down), then all four valves in cylinder #4 will be closed. Finally, 90 more degrees counter-clockwise ("UP" mark now at about the 3 O-clock position), all four valves in cylinder #2 will be closed. If you remove the cam, ALL valves should be closed.
The following link will show you a post that displays what valves are open for each cylinder when each cylinder is TDC. The TDC cylinder is the one firing the spark plug in the picutres. Please follow the link below:

Of which #1 TDC it's fast and easy to see Intake of #3 is open and Exhaust of # 2 is open and both Intake and Exhaust are just barely open on #4.
