Can not find replacement Yellow main bearings
Hi All,
I am working on a 2000 Civic Ex Mt D16Y8 that is basically stock, a daily driver. I am doing a major service and finding parts at the moment seems to be a big PIA. It's a long story but during the service I decided to check the main bearings. 2 sets probably should be replaced so I stared working on getting a full 5 pairs. I have read reusing bearing isn't a good idea after pulling them out. But it seems the Yellow (BEARING E, MAIN (YELLOW) 13325-PK1-752 [13325-P2E-004, 13325-P2E-003, 13325-P2F-A01] ) are no longer being manufactured. I have looked at a bunch of places and even trying Amayama without luck. I was able to find all of the others sizes and only need this 1 set of yellow on journal #1. The crank and the journals look good so I am hoping the stock sizes will work and yep I plan on checking with plastigauge.
So now I am wondering what I do from here. I could try the next size over and see if that is still in the service limit and if so maybe order that size? If this could work, any thoughts on going for a tighter or looser fit. Fortunately bearings #5 and #3 green, and #2 are pink which are the sizes around yellow. So those will be here in a few days.
Thanks!

Generally, moving one color up or down (thicker or thinner) changes the clearance by 2/10,000ths. (.0002"). Since your markings indicate a Yellow bearing is needed for the #1 main journal, try the Green bearing and check your clearance. If it is REALLY tight, you might try the other way and install the Pink bearing and check the clearance again. If the Green bearing measures within spec, I would run it.
You can buy it from Japan.

But I agree with with jrcivic, go to the next step.

A thou thicker or thinner is a REALLY BIG JUMP and is in most cases unusable unless you modify the crankshaft journal sizes. I never suggested installing bearings without measuring... I assumed that the OP was just starting with a bearing that matched what was originally installed in the engine and then measure... and make adjustments thicker or thinner to reach the desired clearance. If this color bearing is unavailable, the next logical path is to use a slightly thicker or thinner bearing to begin with and then measure and adjust the thickness accordingly.
