delema with main bearings
im trying to replace the main bearings in my b18a and im checking clearances with .0001"-.0003" green plastiguage. i have a set of acl main bearings that i initialy checked them with but i was getting readings of less than .0001" which factory is .0009-.0017. except main journal 3 is fine. so i used some used main bearings i had laying around green will work with journals 1 and 2. i then tried yellow but no go still less than .0001 so i went to honda and bought 2 halfs of pink (which is the next thinest bearing) for a b16 since they have the same part number. so i check the clearance with the pink and its worse than all of the bearings i have but they have bearings that are taiho and daiho i have no idea what the hell that is so maybe i got the wrong ones or something. or should i just get them from acura at for a b18a even though its the same ****
are your pistons and crank stock? if so go by the code on the block and crank for the main bearings...ACL bearings are pretty much 1 size fits all so u might not get all the clearances u want...the taiho and daiho name doesnt matter its the same part..i forget what my parts guy told me about why they do that but newayz if your confused just go to honda or acura dealership and order the main bearings from there
right i understand about the numbers and letters but a couple up yellow and with the used yellow it wasnt good. would it make a difference going to acura instead of honda to order them for a b18a instead of a b16
just after market rods and pistons but why should that matter if im only dealing with the main bearings. im going to acura today to order one set of green bearings to check journals 1 and 2. will see what happens with that
