It looks more like an OBD-2B automatic engine harness.

Honestly - stop right where you are and don’t throw away any more money on 22-26 year old oem harnesses or shitty jumpers.

just go to Rywire/Wireworx/CJ’s and get yourself any budget harness made specifically for your setup. Then enjoy not having problems down the road.

Both Auto and Manual engine harnesses will have a VSS 3-Wire plug. Regardless of which you use, if it is an OBD-2A engine harness, it MUST have 3 ECU plugs and the green crossover plug at the ECU end if it is a MANUAL engine harness, and 4 ECU plugs and the green crossover plug at the ECU end if it is an AUTOMATIC engine harness.

Also, spAdam has a good suggestion above. Factory engine harnesses that fit your application are really old by now, and the potential for additional long term issues certainly exists... not to mention, repairs are likely necessary to many plugs before you actually use it. The one down side to moving to an aftermarket solution as spAdam has suggested is that these harnesses do not have shielded wiring for all necessary positive side wires that need RF protection... specifically, all three distributor sensors (TDC, CKP and CYP), the Knock sensor and the O2 sensor. Choose what makes the most sense for you.

OP, do you still have the original 1997 EK Hatch engine harness ? Have you considered modifying it to fit your B20VTEC engine ?

For real? I would have thought Rywire and other established harness manufacturers would surely use shielded wire where needed. But I've never bought an aftermarket harness, so I wouldn't know. That's surprising, as it's not difficult to buy or use shielded wire.

One would think... but unfortunately, I have found no custom engine harness (at ANY price) with shielded wiring.

That is unfortunate. If I bought one I would be disappointed about that, and I'd probably end up opening it up to add my own shielded wire.

I didn’t realize that, interesting.

To be fair, in the few looms I’ve built I’ve gone both ways (shielded/unshielded). The only negatives I’ve been able to notice in the unshielded ones was a noisy knock sensor signal, although the ecu could still sort out the knock it was hard to pick out by human ear. I think it’s good & proper practice to shield, but I’m not sure it’s 100% necessary. Current build has shielded position and knock sensors.
